Default I hate my surfboard with a passion

I desperately want the race spoiler on my 06 LS. I asked the parts department at a local Chevy dealer and they wanted something like $600 or $700 for one, and that's not even for one that's painted! I'm afraid that the 06-07 MCs are just not that common, so there won't be many of them in junkyards... so what's the best alternative to paying the outrageous price at the dealer? I know that gmpartsdirect.com has a more reasonable price, but I've no experience buying from them and I want to be sure that I'm ordering the correct part. $400 is a lot of money so I want to be sure I'm getting exactly what I need.

^ Is that the right part to order?

Looks like the right part to me. I have ordered for them before. The transaction was very smooth. I would recommend them. Waaaay cheaper that a dealership!

Shipping will get you there. $87, for a total of $502. You might be better off taking a printout with you and going to your local dealer and making an offer to buy it from them for slightly less, like $475-490 with tax and shipping. Pure profit for them, and they are retards if they don't! I do it all the time. I can always buy cheaper than gmpartsdirect.com, ALWAYS.

That's a good idea, I might just try that. There's three or four major Chevy dealers in the area so if one doesn't help me out then one of the others may. Has anyone else made the switch and have any advice as far as actually taking the old spoiler off and putting the new one on?

i just had a body shop fill the holes and paint over it. Ended up costing 300 for the spoiler painted and the labor

I believe the surfboard and the 06,07 spoiler holes actually line up no problem.

it's the 00-05 stand-up that has different holes for some reason.

That's why I'm in the market for an 06 SS spoiler to replace my surfboard. But I just wanna find a junked / parted monte, not pay $400+ to get mine.

hey latch I understand your pain because I was in your same exact situation not too long ago.

but after almost a year of never ending searching and constant tries by local dealerships to rip me off I found an amazing website car-part.com

just put in what you're looking for and it'll send you a bunch of different options of online junkyards and used auto parts.

i too have an 06 ls and hated the surfboard with a passion but i was able to find (matching color and all) the stand up spoiler for my car for 160 shipped!!!!!

installation is super easy, you just have to unscrew the bolts from inside your trunk lid and kind of yank of the board because it has 3 patches of double sided tape keeping it together.

then the stand up spoiler lines up perfectly with the existing holes and you're good to go =)

btw my trunk lid was kind of scratched because the surfboard spoiler is longer and covers more surface area on the top of the trunk lid so i guess everything i opened my trunk, the edge would scratch the surface of the trunk but im going to get the fixed soon enough and maybe it just happened to me for being so damn impatient and ripping off that stupid surfboard spoiler lmao =)

hope i helped!!!
