hids in factory fog housing

Yeah. If your are running factory 880s, you are getting 26 watts a piece out of them.
Go get yourself (selves) the 899s, ... they were primarily put in Corvette's of those years (2000-2005) ... They are 37.5 watts a piece. Now I am a BIG proponent of Philips, so I did seek out their 899s, though I will fully admit that there is likely ZERO noticeable difference vs. Sylvania/OSRAM 899s, etc., though there IS a BIG difference in seeking, lightly modding (notching the bulb itself, NOT the lens), & installing Philips' HIR1+2 9011s & 9012s over the conventional 9005s & 9006s.
I did do a cute little road test where I compared the 11-12 watt difference between the 880s & the 899s fog lamps. I had a PHILIPS 880 in the DRIVER'S side, & a PHILIPS 899 in the PASSENGER'S housing. I affixed a piece of thick cardboard to the front of my car's hood, then ran a piece down the middle of the bumper about 3 feet straight out (& 4" thick) so the beams could not affect each other or become diffused in the first couple of feet. I also adjusted them to a lower angle, also keeping them from "washing" each other out the further out they illuminated the road. I drove around the corner to a pitch black road, & immediately was sold - I did not even have to get out & swap them & put the 899 in the driver's side, & vice-versa ... To me, those 12 watts we like night & day - literally. Now I just have to find a way to cheat/defeat the system so I can run the fog lights w/ the hi-beams on as well, ... The reason they are switched off when the hi-beams are engaged is beyond my practical thinking ...
Back to the 9005/9006 swap(ping): They (Philips HIR 9011/9012) are 55W & 65W, but the HIR (Halogen Infrared Reflecting) technology is out of this world, especially if people can get their mitts on a set that was manufactured in Germany - those are scattered across the WWW, as they are not available retail-wise in the USA.
They WILL just plug right in. I would LOVE to know Chevrolet's reasoning for this ... And the reason that the Corvette is a "more premium car" would be a slap in OUR collective faces!

Additionally, all of the above bulbs I speak of are DOT-compliant, at least here in the State of New York they are ... everything approved for on-road use.
Now the LAST thing I aim to do here is to blast anyone for ANYTHING they choose to do to, or with their vehicles ... Lord knows I have shook my head more than a few times so far as I have perused the boards, as I know more than a few folks have shook their collective heads at me/mine, but that is what makes a place like this a fantastic outlet for folks like us ... Start with a very simple premise: People who appreciate a certain make & model of an automobile, invite us all into one place, & CUT US LOOSE!!!

for the fog housings get the 880s. Keep as low of wattage as you can to keep heat down, reducing the chance of melting through the housing
EDIT:
you're doing HIDs, there won't be much of a difference, just do 35w for the fogs, 55w for lows and highs may require upgraded wiring, so just be careful of that

quick question of opinion. about to purchase 880 hid kit for my fogs. i currently have 35W 5000k in my low beam. what temp should i get? match it with the same 35W 5000k? what looks best?
also what should i do about my high beams? theyre still currently stock. :/
