Default Front bumper issue

I'm 18 and have been driving for about a year now. Last winter, I had an unfortunate one-car accident where I pulled into a parking spot too fast, hit the curb and punched a dent into the front bumper, left side. This popped out the fog light there, and since then I haven't been able to replace it. I got it checked out at two places and both estimates were well over 1000 dollars for a repair.

I keep thinking that there has to be an easier way...how difficult would it be for me to replace the front bumper on my own? And what are the most cost-effective places to look for a replacement like that?

Ps. Car is a stock 2001 Monte Carlo SS, black.

man the only reason to let a body shop touch your car is if someone elses insurance is paying for it ... im on a quest to do something similar because there are so many rock chips in my bumper it looks like someone unloaded with a automatic bb gun on it ... the hazards of highway miles and ilinois being perpetually under construction i guess ...

ill let you know if i find a good enough alternative that would be worthy for you to pursue as well

Get a bumper from ebay, if not just from a junked car. As long as its straight and no dents it can all be sanded. I repainted my back bumper, needs a re do though. All I can say is avoid single stage unless its all u can afford.

Thanks drjesus...keep me updated on your search!

And enzo, I'll check out ebay. The only problem is I can't seem to find one with the sport package (which I believe is with the fog lights, etc.), but I'll keep looking.

Front bumper cover for a 2001 Monte Carlo SS on www.rockauto.com is $62.79 (regular inventory) I have gotten most of my body parts there and they are great to deal with. The lamp assembly is $55.79 and I am having trouble finding the housing.

Never mind about the housing... There is no housing.

P.S. They are all new parts. It should be just a matter of unbolting the old and mounting the new, followed by a paint job. Good luck.

Well I was really looking for the sport package with the fog light holes, which they don't seem to have. However, I was told that it's a cinch to cut out those grates over the holes that come with that model of the cover, so we'll see.

the covers will just pull off pretty much, the sport package is gonna be a pain, you can find the front sport package in the classifieds here, if its still there, good price too, just need the bumper then, or you can take yours off and put it on the new bumper
