Basically went along with DrJesus616's how-to and ended up with this result:





Pictures were taken right around dusk so you can see that there's still a lot of light that gets through. I put about four coats of VHT on then sanded and six coats of clear. Sanded with 2000 after I let them sit about four hours then put on rubbing compound, sanded once more and rubbing compound again then polishing compound then two coats of wax. They shined up very well and looking at them afterwards I could have sanded them up a bit more but they looked good enough to me.

Now I am trying to figure out what color I wanna do the bowties. I am thinking white. I think black would stick out too much. Also looking to throw on silver racing stripes and maybe some eyebrows for my new headlights.

 

Great work. It looks good. I only did 3 coats of VHT and they came out great. I would do a white bowtie. The chrome outline will make it stand out nicely.

Awesome photoshops! The black does look good but the white I think I really like.

I'm also wondering what to do with the front one. I plan to do white eyelids on the stock headlights but I'm not sure doing the front emblem white. With the grille being black, it may stand out too much. Kinda going for a smooth clean look.

 

Do the bowtie white and paint the chrome edge black to outline it. Might as well do the monte carlo ls emblem and the reverse lights while your at it. The tail lights look great. nice job.

 

I HAVE THE WHITE EYELIDS THOUGH YOU CANT REALLY TELL BUT YOU CAN KINDA SEE THEM IF YOU CHECK OUT MY PICS....NONE THAT ARE GREAT THOUGH BUT THEY DO LOOK NICE AND GIVE IT A MEANER LOOK

 

Are yours painted or are they vinyl? Did you go with the curve that's in the housing? That's what I planned to go by. I know a sign shiop close to me that I may go see. I'm either going to and just get two pieces and cut them myself or if he can do it, that'd be fine too. The thing is, I'm not sure how close the white of the vinyl and the white of the car will match. I know the car's white is a little off white because my wife has a Saturn Vue and her's is a real white. You can definitely see the difference. Anyways, I kinda want the clolors to blend nicely, not pop out.
