Finally got it done. I have been afraid to wash the car for the last couple of weeks because I didn't want to get wax on the primed bumper. So, without further ado...

Before any work was done I wanted to get baseline pics.

That was a trouble spot for me.

So was this one.



I started out by wiping the bumper off with generic glass cleaner.


I have "NASCAR" inspired chin spoiler supports that had to be removed.

When they were both loosened they drop down to the ground.


Using a couple of basic tools, I removed the bumper from the vehicle.





Here is a better look at the chin spoiler supports.


Sans bumper, I moved The Beast out of the garage.



I separated the component pieces of the bumper.


Using a random wooden box that I had lying around, I propped it up for ease of sanding.

 

Next came more sanding and prepping... etc...




I used a "liquid steel" product to fill in the previous cracks because that was the only thing that would hold.


After everything was sanded and prepped, the shaking began...


I used a "wheel coating" on the silver portions because it was an EXACT match to the silver on my car.






I painted the center of the chin spoiler silver because it will look unique.

 

I discovered that if the tip of your finger extends beyond the tip of the spray can, you will get a blotchy finish on the paint. AVOID THIS!


DISASTER!!! While prying the Chevrolet emblem off the front of the grille, it SNAPPED!


Super glue to the rescue!


I went ahead and painted the emblem silver to match the accents on the front.


Back to the bumper! I didn't take pics of prepping the bumper. So here I am painting it.

 

To keep a long story long, I used 7 cans of black paint and 2 cans of silver.




I was EXTREMELY careful unmasking the bumper. I didn't want to ruin the finish in my haste.



There were a couple of areas that I am not happy with, but for an amateur, not too shabby. I will be putting it on my car in the morning to get a good look at the finish.



When I put it on in the morning I will post a "completed" picture. Just one... I promise!

 

I'm over here stressing on rattle canning my pace car spoiler while you're over there rattle canning your whole damn bumper and two tone at that!

Man, I need to step my game up

LOL. Thanks. It took about 25 hours to do all the way. Eventually I will have to color sand it and clear it. I'm WAY too high now to be thinking about that. The DRJESUS write-up on VHT is what inspired me to try this myself.
