2006 Bad Paint
Anybody out there with paint issues on a 06 Monte? In 07 the dealer blended my paint on both quarter panels because primer was showing through. The color is Black. I just made a trip to Florida from Connecticut and my whole front end is sand blasted down to the primer. I have always owned Chevy's and always had paint problems. My 87 SS Aero Coupe sits in my garage with 38,000 miles and it had paint problems. Missed the call back on that because the mileage was too low at the time to really show the problems. Only wish I had driven it more. I think GM has to address this problem. I say keep your sun roofs and add a better paint job. I'll sign off on that option.

Hmmm! I can understand the late 80's Aero coupe, that was right around the time the tried/ started going from oil based paints to water based paints, and they sucked. We have an 89 Silverado, and the paint literally peels off the thing in certain spots.
But my family has also had many GM vehicles from 1992+ that have never had paint issues. And my 2006 Monte in particular (for sake of your thread) has also never had problems with paint, its looks great after 4 years 105,000 miles. (my front end has been repainted because I was in an accident, but it was fine before the accident too) and most of the car is still original and perfect. (the rubber inserton the roof rails could look better, but thats the only part that is starting to look 4 yrs old)
As far as rock chips, of course I like every other car will get the occasional one on the front end, but it chips no more than anything else.

i have no problems with my paint exept some rock chips on the front bumper other than that i live in florida and i have no problem i have a problem with my mustangs rear quarter panel fading fast but it is going on 10 years old
This is funny. Not ha ha, but weird. I was just talking to my work friend not 2 hours ago about how crappy the front of my black '06 looks. Little stone pecks all over the front of the hood and bumper cover. I think part of the problem, besides it being black, is that michigan put down a lot of sand this year for the winter ice. It sucks, because it did not look like this in the fall. I might repaint the front this spring.
The problem is not the salt and sand it's because GM Does'nt put enough paint on. 2 color coats and one heavy coat of clear. The option should be there for us to choose not them. I'm willing to pay more for a better paint job. Shame on them.
alot of the guys on my other forum have also complained about there montes and gxps paint on the nose chipping off in large sections and what not. i personally havent had this happen but they had a big thread about it ill see if i can find it.

I think it's just where they put as thin of a paint job as possible on the cars to save as much money as possible. I thought these paints would be enamel based with the polyurethane clear coat? Maybe GM should put extra paint on the front ends though.. my '03 has plenty of chips to speak of in the front... I just take pictures that don't show it

I just wish I would have seen it before I bought the car.
