Other than paint chips my 01 SS does not have any rust at 130k. Here in Texas the sun and the heat are the enemies. Mostly faded paint since it sits outside. Washing and a wax are best. I am fro m NY both North and south. Do not miss the rust issue.

 

only problem with this is if you have anywhere for the water to get in it will make it rust even more....once mine bubbled it only took about 2 months and it was starting to come through...it sucked so i traded in and the poor dealer had no idea since at night the car looked like brand new

 

Yea My 05 Monte Is starting On each door at drainage holes and All my Fenders Inners are starting To rust/ Becase of Rock CHIPS.. I drove it Last Winter And WHOA 1 winter of driving Did that.

I also Have A Bubble Thats about 2 inches Ubove My Supercharged SS emblom on driver side. Some how rustin from behind.

This Summer Once outta Storage Im Fixing The bottem Of the Doors.. and See what I can do With the inside Lip of fenders...

 

do you wax yearly? it shouldnt rust just from rock chips

 

if the rock chips are bad enuff they sure could help the rusting out...i know i waxed mine about every week or every other week and it didnt help mine out

 

hmm, i have some pretty bad ones and they never rusted because i waxed them good, but it could be the wax you use too, i use meguiars, donno if that matters tho.

 

i have seen some pretty bad chips at the detail shop i work at that were the cause of some rusting....but most of it is i think is where you live, the climate, and if you have bad winters cus here in iowa if you drive your car during the winter you get blasted with salt...and for paint sealant i used to have a company from california make some for me that would blow anything out of the water that you can buy on the shelves but they quit making it cus of the environmental laws there

 

i used bed liner to cover the under neath of my car all the way not pushing the lips of the fenders but i paid a body shop to clear the heck out of the wheel wells of the fenders and the uper and under part of my doors. it kinda explains why i didnt do any thing else because it casted me alot

Ived Owned My Monte 2 years and ive waxed it 4 times, Miquars liquid Gold. car Gets washed evry saterday, Last Winter I had to drive it all throw winter. Um Its Not Like RUSTING bad or anything, It has like 2-3 GOOD NASTY rock chips on each wheel wheel and their just starting to rust.
