Default 06 ss rusting out at rear wheelwell

hello all, has anyone had any problems or heard of this:
my babied 2006 monte ss is rusting from the inside out at the rear wheelwells on both sides.
the car is babied with only 54,000 miles on it. hand waxed and kept up with constantly. I can not fathom that a 2006 is rusting out already.
I brought her back to the dealer today and they basically said o well your rust warranty ended in june. I called GM and have a claim opened with them, and i am sure they will do nothing, but i am not a happy camper. i am the only owner and she has never been in a crash or flood or anything like that. nj car and road salt is always washed right off.
thanks

its because water and salt are getting to the metal beneath the paint fix it now its a sand and repaint kind of thing not the end of the world if you stop it now maybe spray bedliner in the wheel well

It's moreso a cut out and weld in metal plates and go from there situation. Which sucks, if you do end up doing this, make sure you wash the underbody if it ever sees salt, my car gets weekly underbody washes in this winter here.

I remember Jerry (77gp) having an issue with his 7th gen Monte, rusting on the inside out. I have some rust on mine right around the front flap but I haven't checked it out lately......

mine started rusting on the flap with surface rust and about a month later the sheetmetal on the quater started bubbling out.

i think everyone needs to call gm and put a claim in like i did. i am getting estimates of 3500 to start..and thats only if the outside quater is bad...doing it properly and cutting out and putting new metal in.

call 1.800.222.1020 put in a claim. maybe if enough people call they will step up to the plate

Mine isn't bad yet but I have the same problem only on the passenger side.

When I first noticed it I took a closer look and felt around inside the quarter panel and fender lip because I was also puzzled as to why an 06 would be doing this already, especially if the car is taken care of on a regular basis like mine is. That and I never had this issue with my 03.

Having taken a closer look, I'm almost certain this issue has to do with the fitment of the plastic liner (#7) and how it aligns with the quarter panel (#1). On my car, the liner touches the inside of the fender lip on the passenger side, in one spot (where I have my issue), but the liner on the driver side does not touch. That said, I'm positive that where the liner touches the body is the issue and is susceptible to holding moisture for longer periods of time and in direct contact with the body.

Just as Chris mentioned.on my 07 I had, I noticed a slight bubble in front of the drivers side rear wheel. GM body shop told me that they spray some kind of material on the inside and it holds moisture. They see it frequently. I will attach some pics. There is a 5 year corrosion warranty but yours is surely expired, since mine was just in under the wire. They wanted to replace the whole quarter but GM wouldn't agree. All I saw was just a slight bubble about the size of an eraser head on a pencil but we all know where that leads to. Good Luck.
Sorry to be late for the party !
