Cool This week in the american le mans series

Here is what made news this week in ALMS To get you through the weekend, here are a few news items from the American Le Mans Series presented by Tequila Patrón you may have missed during the last couple days...
PAGENAUD IN THE PADDOCK: Before he wrapped up his first championship in the American Le Mans Series presented by Tequila Patrón, Simon Pagenaud decided to do a little recon in the Road Atlanta paddock during Petit Le Mans powered by MAZDA 2. Along the way, Patrón Highcroft’s French star made some new friends and made nice with a couple of his rivals. All in the name of a little spying and insight, Simon??

Here’s what Simon found on his trip...

LIZARDS SET FOR 2011 RETURN: Flying Lizard Motorsports announced today preliminary details of its 2011 racing program. The Sonoma, Calif.,-based independent team will return to the American Le Mans Series presented by Tequila Patrón, fielding two Porsche 911 GT3 RSRs – the No. 45 and No. 44 – in the GT class for the nine-race season.

“2010 was a phenomenal year for the ALMS, and GT was clearly the place to be,” said Seth Neiman, Flying Lizard team principal and driver of the No. 44 Porsche. “We fought a long, tough battle all season, and came away with the drivers’ championship. All credit goes to some very tough racing by Joerg (Bergmeister) and Patrick (Long), and an incredible performance by the crews at every single event this year.”

Bergmeister and Long won four times together for the Lizards and shared their second straight Series driving title. It was the third for Long and record-tying fifth for Bergmeister. Each had one class pole position on the season.
TUCKER IN ITALY: Scott Tucker, the American Le Mans Series LMP Challenge class champion and Series’ Rookie of the Year, is headed back to the Ferrari World Challenge this weekend. He is in search of even more hardware in 2010 as he vies for the North American Ferrari Challenge Pirelli Trophy. Tucker has scored four wins so far this season and looks to add to that total in Spain.

It is the second consecutive year that the Ferrari Challenge World Finals have been held at the 2.517-mile, 11-turn road course. More than 17,000 fans attended last year’s International Finals as Tucker won both North American Series races and finished first in the North American division in Sunday’s World Finals finale.

“We enjoyed the success we had at that track during last year’s event, and we’re proud of what we accomplished,” said Tucker, who won five times in the inaugural season of LMPC. “But the past is the past and we’re focused on the 2010 World Finals. Our goals are nothing less than a victory in every race in which we enter.”
CORE AUTOSPORT MOVING UP: CORE autosport became the second new team to move into the LMPC ranks. A title-winning operation in IMSA’s 2010 Cooper Tires Prototype Lites Championship, CORE is moving up the prototype ladder and expects to take delivery of two ORECA FLM09 prototypes within the week.

LMPC is the middle rung in a development ladder within IMSA, the sanctioning body of the American Le Mans Series, that is designed to build and advance the next generation of endurance racing drivers and teams.

In 2010, CORE won the L1 team championship in the Cooper Tires Prototype Lites Championship while team driver Charlie Shears won the driver title. Performance Tech announced in October its plans to move from Lites to LMPC, as well.

Perfect” is more than a catchy slogan for Patrón Tequila. It reflects every practice within the Patrón Spirits Company – a collection of 10 ultra-premium, high-quality products that are sold around the world.

For the next seven weeks, we will give you an inside glimpse of Patrón including its history, philosophy, the harvesting, distilling and bottling processes, and many other facets of the globe’s original maker of world-class premium tequila. Along the way you’ll hear from Francisco Alcaraz – Patrón’s Master Distiller – and get a behind-the-scenes tour of Hacienda del Patrón in Jalisco, Mexico.
