^Don't know how many of you have seen that, hell maybe it was even posted on here sometime and I just missed it.

I think I'd probably break down and cry as soon as I saw work like that on my car. Anyone ever have something like this happen to them?

That's almost painful to look at. Just a good heads-up for those thinking about body work.

Geez! Some bodyshop actually had the guts to do a job like that and expected the customer to like it?

That seriously looks like the work was done in one day, Monster Garage style. The body kit looks like it was literally slapped on with one hand, and two inch drywall screws driven in with the other hand. Wood shims, a zillion pop rivets in the door jamb area, body panels bent with a prybar, obvious accident damage. Wow. Plus, it's obvious the kit was installed onto the car BEFORE they painted it. Painted and clear coated the thing without masking off the rest of the car too. Yeah, Ialways wanted paint and clearcoat on my wheels, tires and headlights.

Personally, I would be getting the car repaired at another shop as soon as possible. Then I call the best lawyer there is.

Crap like that is the reason why so many people don't trust body shops. You want to think that your car is going to be getting a professional job, then you get work like that.

That's a shame what they did to that 350Z!

all i have to say is wow. absolutely wow. BUTCHER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
i have seen some bad stuff come into the shop i work at, to get fixed after it was already fixed. but that is by far the worst. if you look at the side of that car the color isnt all there.
i feel really bad for him becase it will be damn near impossible to get that **** all fixed RIGHT.

Let me be the Judge Judy on this one!

"Your Honor; this guy butchered my car. I want my money back."
"How much did you agree upon?"
"Two-hundred-fifty dollars!"
"Order. Order in the Court. You expected to pay $250.00 to have the Kit installed and painted to match. Is that right? Two-hundred-fifty dollars; complete?"
"Yes, Your Honor."
"This case is dismissed on the grounds that you are so damn stupid you couldn't pass the basic 'Which hand's the rock in" test. How stupid are you?
It looks to me that you got all that two-fifty's worth. Those are good drywall screws.
And, you are still quite a few bricks shy of a load. You have godda be sh1tting me. I spend a deuce and a half just getting my ride detailed once a month. And, you are about as sharp as a bowling ball, there, Mr. 'Paid the guy two-fifty' expecting 25-hundred's worth or more. Get out of my sight you moron. Case dismissed!"

Some lessons in life are more expensive then others : (
LOL `Rick : ) Good One : )
I have learned it does pay to do your homework when dealing
with companies that perform services for you.
We live, and hopefully we learn as we travel our journey
of life... Some just never seem to learn : )
May we learn from others mistakes ? `amen

That's a mix. The job is absolutely horrible and the shop owner is required to contact the car owner to make those kind of changes so it does fall on the shop.

Also with reading the "conversation" part of the rant it sounds like the shop owner is a 17 year old starting a business. No other employees, he has food poisoning so he can't work on it, no authorization to make changes, etc.

On the flip side there is a get what you pay for comment, well if someone was to drop me a body kit to install and assuming everything was fine with it I'd do it for $250. But this job sounded like it needed painting and half a dozen other things so yeah, the cost should have been higher.

If anyone ever did a job like this to ANY of my cars I'd be tempted to start biting at the front of their neck not stopping till I reached the back, then spit down their neck. (or what's left of it)

BUT................

As some have pointed out. It's Let the buyer beware in this country.

Yes no one can blame you for being mad at this type of work. But $250 for a body kit install? Even here in Boondocks, Ohio a body kit install is gonna cost more then $250. No matter how many sheet metal screws or pop rivots the guy uses.

Personally I see a guy who wasn't quite sure how to do the install get in over his head so he blows off the car owner till he figures he's got the kit half installed and ran out of excuses as to why the car wasn't finished so he had to give up the car.

Something I learned from paying other people to work on my car ONLY To have them screw me. DO IT MYSELF!!!!

Why I painted my pink/white '57 Hardtop myself. I figured if it came out bad I had no one but me to blame and I'd spent less moey doing the paint work. And I plan on doing more of my own paint work. Maybe some day I might even get good at it?

Personally, I would be getting the car repaired at another shop as soon as possible. Then I call the best lawyer there is.

The owner of the car could always get the car repaired at another shop to his liking then sue this first body kit installer for the repairs.
