They're really giving our new cars the gauntlet

Hay Amy, I spent 2 years in Wakeegan. On the naval training center. One center I went from the main gate to the comic book store at the train station. About an 8th of a mile. It started snowing as I left the gate, by the time I got to the comic store there were 3 1/2" of snow on the ground. Being from the Bronx I had never seen snow flakes that BIG before.
The thing about up there is that they are on the snow like White on clouds. They keep the streets clean even in the worst is conditions. JERSEY could use a lesson or two from the Il crew!!!!!

ill tell ya this winter just keeps sucking weather wise. imo weve gotten enough snow lol. as long as everyone is safe and has a roof over there head thn were all doin alright so far.

Don't get me started. SE Michigan (Detroit area) has seen over 3X the normal snowfall in January alone; normal for the month is 12.5" and we have 38"+ and counting, and yes we're well past the record of 29.6" for January (1978). It's snowed literally every other day and more like every day the past week. Not to mention how cold it's been spending half the time sub zero.

Spring can arrive anytime.

We are buried up in my area of Michigan also. Spring is coming soon I hope.

Usually the big flakes indicate lake effect snow. If we had normal temps, it never would have snowed this much here this year.

Just read the Great Lakes are 62% frozen over. This means more cold, less lake-effect snow, and more sun. The extreme cold we've had lately is helping the lakes freeze pretty rapidly.

Total ice coverage by date across all Great Lakes:

Jan. 15 - 22%
Jan. 22 - 48%
Jan. 28 - 62%

Total current ice coverage by Lake:

Lake Superior - 69%
Lake Michigan - 48%
Lake Huron - 71%
Lake Erie - 96%
Lake Ontario - 26%

This image was taken January 28th and shows the ice along the western shore of Lake Michigan, against Illinois and Wisconsin, and the lake effect bands starting at the point in which the open water begins and draping across Michigan.

Finally Utah is receiving more snow. 1" to 3" expected in the valleys and then rain later in the week, :thumbsdown:. I sure don't envy all of you back east and up north, your in some crazy snow weather conditions to say the least. Like most of you all I would be pretty fed up with your weather, probably have cabin fever in a bad way.

We're looking at 1-2" tonight, 2-4" Saturday, and potentially 10"+ mid next week. Good times. :nono:
