Mike: G.M. Did it with the Grand Prix not sure of the yr. maybe a 2000 ?? It was a 2 dr & a 4 dr. And it looked good either way. I understand what your saying about the platform.

I remember seeing a concept 4 door Firebird in one of the popular car magazines back in the early 90's. The rear doors blended into the car really well. Could barely tell it was a door. I threw away the magazine years ago. So I don't have the picture anymore.

GM told me directly in a reply to one of my monthly bring the monte back emails. We have no plans to offer both a 2 door and 4 door option on a given platform because it would be to costly to keep a coupe model in the lineup. Basically it cost more to sell cars with less doors. I retorted with the benz example and they said that the markup on a benz is so high that they can afford to offer a coupe and sedan on most models. All I see coming out of GM atleast until our economy turns around is sedans. With maybe a few coupes built in the higher marked caddillac lineup.
