Thinking about the upcoming racing season got me to thinking about some of my favorite racing legends.

Some of mine are Harry Gant, the Wood Brothers, Dale Earnhardt, the Unser family, and Dennis Anderson.

Who are some of the legends of motorspotsts that impacted or influenced you the most? It can be any type of motorsports.

This is a good one " you'll wish you weren't"

 

My favorites lets begin with John Force. The year was 1998-99 I took my son with me and we went to Topeka, Kansas for the NHRA Race. I had met John before and he was really cool. When I thanked him for the Auto Graph, I turned away and he replied back, thank you too. When I turned to face him in shock ( cause most of these racers think it's a pain meeting fans and signing stuff) he kind of smiled and said if it wouldn't be for you, I wouldn't be out here doing what I love to do.
So fast forward to this race John Force, Ron Kapps and 2 or more other drivers were signing T-shirts, they had made up special for a Motorcycle racer who had been killed in an accident on the street.
You got the impression they were only going to autograph those T-shirts and nothing else. My son and I had brought several items. One of which was a John Force Action figure, my son asked if he should try to get anything else signed. I said couldn't hurt all he could say is no.
So the other Racers had not seen this Action Figure before, they were giving John a bunch of crap.
They passed this action figure around and John asked my son where he got it? He replied: My Dad.
So John said how much stuff did you bring?
He said a whole bag.
So he puts his arm around my son and says, if you help me pass this stuff out I sign all the stuff you brought. To this day my son is a huge John Force FAN. John has to be one of the best, but he will talk your leg off.
