I've got just over 118k on my 2006 3.9 LT. I just bought it in June and it had 108K on it. Being that I'm 20 it's my daily driver so hopefully I'll be putting quite a few more on it. Nothing major has happened to me yet, other than a thermostat/coolant temp sensor. Very sound shifting and handling so I'm hoping that won't come for a while :p

just snagged a 2000 ss back in dec 11 with 141000 miles on it . its in bad need of some shocks and some new tires and the power steering whines . thats to be
expected of a 11 year old car. other than that it runs pretty good.

So, so far I'm the winner at over 212,000! Right? Do I need pictures? I'll post em... Not that I want to brag about a ton of miles, but the car doesn't have a SINGLE ENGINE LEAK... BONE dry after all them miles...clean as a whistle, looks like new, maybe better.... Thanks.. Mjc...

My 05 LT has 77k and I've had no major issues. The only stuff I've done has been regular maintenance and changing out little worn out parts for regular usage. The previous owner, however, neglected the Monte. They NEVER changed brake pads. They actually mixed coolant. A few things I've replaced on my own because they were getting rusty, but posing no problems.

The next thing I'll have to change out is my leaking oil pan gasket, which I hear is a common thing for our cars.

What I want to know is what in the heck you guys are (or aren't) doing to your Montes that results in their transmissions going out at ~130k?! I know I would be enraged if that happened to me, for as obsessive-compulsive as I've been with regular maintenance and care. My 96 3.1L Monte had zero trans issues after living a hard life in the north with 180k miles. I don't care what kind of car you drive, anything after at least '04 should not be having transmission problems that early if given a normal life.

my 2000 ss just turned 166,000 . so far i had to replace the water pump. front
wheel bearings, all 4 struts and front lower control arm bushings and last but not
least a new radiator. the fuel pump is the next project. "other than that "the car
runs great.

I have 188,888 miles currently

I Purchased the 2004 Monte Carlo LS 3400 V6 in 2006 with 34,000 miles

Always do regular mantenance:
  • oil and oil filter change 3,000-4,000 miles (Valvoline Max Life Oil for "Valvoline Engine Guarantee" .... 225,000 mile guarantee is what I signed up for)
  • air filter once a year
  • spark plugs once a year
  • plug wires every 2 years
  • coolant flush 7 fill once a year
  • thermostat once a year
  • cabin filter once a year (good for your A/C to run eff)
  • tires, brake pads, rotors & battery as needed
  • (I do all except coolant flush & tires)
Repairs
  • (2) Trans flushes
  • Blower motor resistor (HVAC would only run on high or off)
  • Water pump
  • Power steering pump
  • Fuel pressure regulator (engine ran like crap and stalling)
  • Evap canister (check engine dummy light was on & threw a "mass vacuum leak" code)
  • 150,000 - Low pressure and high pressure power Steering Lines
  • 175,000 - Trans cooler lines
  • 185,000 - front sway bar & rear sway bar
  • 188,888 - Current mileage
  • Yet to fix/replace
    • stepper motors on speedo cluster
  • (I do all repairs.... no dealership / repair shop)
Question to all???? I have not done or seen signs of Lower & upper intake gaskets going bad. How can I tell if I have the metal gaskets installed?
