At last minute everything was changed due to Hurricane Sandy. The head of Suffolk County Parks said they will not allow the ceremony in the park. Everything is shut down. So we stopped off at the reception area to make sure they were open & they were. We seen the little gazebo and there ya go..





As some of you already know my wedding is this halloween, the big day me and my partner tie our bonds for good & all of eternity in a pagan handfasting. For those who want to know, handfastings began in the medieval era & symbolizes the bonding of two souls for a year and a day, for a lifetime, or for an eternity. Whatever the couple wishes. Its mostly popular among the wiccan/pagan religions because of its origins. Instead of your traditional american wedding all the elements can be used during the ritual, (obviously) different gods/goddesses exc or none at all can be used and during the ceremony/ritual the couple is binded by the hands with ribbon of choice until the ritual is over, rings get exchanged and thus the kiss. In the end the couple has to jump over a broom or sword as a symbolism of sweeping away the old life, jumping into the new. The sword represents the pain we will endure, but together you can pull through.
This will probably be the first halloween ever that I WONT be handing out candy

 

You certainly have it well thought out! I like the idea of the Pine rows leaves etc for a late fall wedding! ( A friend has 14 acres of pine rows up in Kalkaska)

I like the idea with the Sword broom jump thing... Sounds very unique!
