My grandfather served in the U.S. Army.

He fought in the Korean War.
He was one of very few U.S. Soldiers to come out alive from the Battle At Pork Chop Hill.
Also was a Purple Heart recipient.

I received his Purple Heart after his death, and I will cherish it forever.
I also wear a Purple Heart lapel pin on my sweater that he gave me when I was a little boy.

When I was in Gitmo it was just a training facility mostly for ships on their shakedown cruise.

Thanks `Tad for creating a thread to honor those that have served or are serving their country.
My grandfather was in the Army at the first of the Vietnam
War for three tours. He does not talk to much about it, but
I know that he got many awards or medals.
I'm proud of him & all that fight for our freedom.

I was stationed at HHC 1/6 Inf. Mech. in Illesheim from 85-88 as a 91B10 (Combat Medic), That place was as country as you could get in Germany. Although it seemed we were in grafenwoehr every other month, lol.
