I know when I was in my late teens and bought my '84 Z28 someone I know felt it was "too much horse power for a kid my age". That car put out 190HP. You look at my 3800 Monte, I think GM rates it around 200HP.... Think how EASY it is to put a kid in a car starting with 200+ HP stock! Even the little econoboxes are coming with more power.

This story is HORRIBLE! That amount of people involve is sad.

This is why my parents didn't let me buy a 97 Trans Am with a 383 stroker on NOS, full roll cage, race seats, and a 6 speed transmission as my first car. Sad story..

It is a truely sad story RiP to all those involved.

Having Said that...there are many Double Standards by me that do contribute to this type of horrible tragedy.

The biggest one is actual race tracks, many say keep it on the track, but in Long Island New York they only have one track (Island Drag) and it is absolutely horrible to run there...so many Islanders have been pushing for a new track, they rally and write there politicians, even find land and subsidizers but there is still a hault on it....Many even trailer there cars to NJ to run at English town, Unfortunately many places across the U.S. do not have tracks, so it is hard to say "Keep it on the track"

Another place were blame lies is the parents/guardians of the kids these days...>Don't get me wrong I know a lot of kids in the hobby (16-21 ish) that are responsible, smart and have the moral voices of there parents, who have fast cars that do not race, do burnout,s or anything even with Peer Pressure. Unfortunately those kids are few and far between...

Maybe I'm getting old, but some of these kids these days lack so much Grammar and Spelling that I don't even understand what there saying, just seeing that shows they may not have the moral Intellect to handle such a powerful car...

I have seen Parents give these kids Fast Cars like GTOs, Camaros, and Mustangs and even give them the money to upgrade them...Then these kids write on there facebook wall and car forums about how there racing, and doing stupid things with there cars...At times myself and a number of others tell them to slow down and take it easy, there response is ussually: "It's all good when God's gun take me he gunna take me, I'm still hea"

Of course there luck ussually runs out and the parents are the first ones to act surprised and can't wait to blame everyone but themselves.

I don't care how rich one is, I know my kids will not be getting a brand new 400HP car as there first ride....

This all may sound tough and mean, but it is what is needed to save peoples lives.

Just my 2cents,
Joe

Your right about the tracks, its hard to keep it on the track when most are closing or are junk to run on, so whats the next best thing cut em lose on the roads which is what there doing, im guilty i do it a mustang pulls up beside me on an empty hwy were gonna go, so if all these ppl that say keep it on the track want it on a track than build tracks & stop closing them

We are supposed to be getting a new track around here in the next year or two.
A road/circle track with a drag strip.

We do have a drag strip but it's only opened one day of the week an you only get a few passes in with all the bracket classes.
Kinda hard to get any decent races in like that.

Default accident

Well as it turns out . The driver of the Lincoln who was killed instantly was 33 years old and his girlfriend was 22. And even more tragic, reports are coming out that she was pregnant with his child.
The driver of the Cutlass denied that they were racing and he was just minding his own buisness.....

Sad story. Whenever someone next to me wants to run I usually just jump on it off the line and then let off and laugh when they speed off. It's fun for me.
