Jeff Heldt
Omaha, NE

Jeff Heldt and his dad Jim owned early Montes back in the day, so it only made sense that their new project would be of that ilk. The duo's '70 came to them in running condition with 23,000 original miles and no rust. On the other hand, rodents were living in the interior, so the Monte became known as Mighty Mouse and the inner digs were promptly gutted and rehabbed. The Heldts continued by pulling the car's original 250-horse 350 and replacing it with a 325-pony 355. This Monte also sported a 2.78:1 Tempest rearend (thanks to GM strikes, Jeff tells us); it was replaced with a stouter 3.55:1-geared diff. A rebuilt suspension and 17-inch Boyd Coddington wheels completed the transformation...for now. The future calls for a 200-4R tranny swap and a complete body restoration.

Nice cool start to the day. Makes for a nice ride to work. Got cool enough last night to sleep with the bedroom windows open.

Beautiful 1st Gen Monte, Space. Don't see many like that on the road.

The sun has been playing hide-n-seek the last couple of days and has been hiding behind the rain clouds so we haven't seen much of it. Moderate rain and wind gusts are in the forecast for today with temp in the 50s. :(

Space 06-07-2012 08:12 AM

Hi `Mike, `Dave & Member's,
It's raining hard here in the SunShine State, but we need the rain..We are about to enter our Hurricane Season :(...,until November :( The price one pays to live in paradise :)

Good Morning everyone. Checking in from Michigan still. Having a great time so far. Getting a lot of miles put on this old body this week. Running around with all my friends. Who want to have me here and there at the same time. Weather here has been great. Not to HOT and not to cold. Today going to go see my sister and her family. Then heading off the BIke night at the bar. Suppose to be a BIG deal for all bikers! So another busy day of running around from one side of town to the next. But I LOVE it. Miss these old Dudes alot. A lot of memories with these guys over 35 yrs worth. Ok gotta run. Shower and hit the rd to Hamburg, Mi for the afternoon. Then back here for more FUn and Bikes :).

MnteCrloSS47 06-07-2012 09:15 AM

Good morning MCF'ers...here's a pic of what I did with my new MCF shirt. It really adds to the red-and-black interior of the car, and gets our name out to anyone glancing in thru the windows. The second picture shows you what my Monte looks like after her Chemical Guys Wash + Gloss.

Afternoon Ladies / Gents,

A few weeks ago it was a guy on a motorcycle doing it, with only inches to spare between him and speeding cars on the Interstate.

You don't work at Redstone, do you? My husband was there for ten years before he retired, and I visited the city of Huntsville several times. I remember taking walks thru beautiful wooded areas there.

Angie - Finally had a moment to look over yesterday' blog and saw this. I spent a few years working on Redstone Arsenal while still in uniform. I retired from the Army in Fall of 2009. I now support a variety of DoD offices as a contractor, some on the Arsenal, others all over the place. I've actually been doing more work for the Air Force out of Wright-Patterson AFB lately. I just go where the work is these days. Getting kinda slim with all the DoD budget cuts.

My family and I really enjoy the Huntsville area - enough to stay here after leaving the Army. Beautiful countryside, some nice rolling hills for good riding, good schools (one more kid to finish high school). Nice place overall.

And about those scary highway tactics... I generally take your approach. I try to put as much distance as possible between me and the idiot(s). Of course, I've also been known to spit on a windshield or two when I catch up to someone who reaaaaaally gets my goat and I'm on the bike. Probably not the textbook solution to conflict resolution, but sometimes I just can't help it.

So how old is the TSB & Recalls tab above (right) on the forum page, or is it something I may have missed?

TSB & Recalls

lougreen03 06-07-2012 09:58 PM

evening all just relaxing and catching up on the forum. Been busy working on my bosses building. We took all the aluminum off the front and used it to replace the dented and rotted pieces along the side next to the parking lot. I think it has been hit on every old panel. Next we will do some work making the brick underneath look good.

TSB & Recalls

It's been there for a while. It's a link to Alldata. And unless you sign up for Alldata's site, you don't get the details of the TSB's and recalls.
