Fort Worth police are conducting tests and plan to file charges if LSD or another drug or chemical is found in the food, said Lt. Paul Henderson. Lake Worth investigators found that Phillips had a list of about two dozen North Texas departments, with 13 checked off, but it's unclear if anyone else got sick because some deliveries were made in the past week, McGuire said. He said Blue Mound police found traces of marijuana in the treats. Blue Mound police tipped off Lake Worth after receiving a call from MADD that no one was delivering cookies on its behalf. [1] LAKE WORTH (CBS 11 News) An 18-year-old Watauga man is in jail after he allegedly tried to give drug-tainted cookies to several police officers. Lake Worth Police Chief Brett McGuire tells CBS 11 News that Christian Phillips walked into the Blue Mound Police Department on Monday and told officers he was with Mother Against Drunk Driving. ' Phillips offered cookies to the officers, McGuire says, ostensibly as a gesture of goodwill. "He said part of his community service was to bake cookies and deliver them to police departments around the area," said Glenn Phillips, Christian's father. "While he was baking them, I was nibblin' on 'em. He and a couple of other people over here helping 'em cook." The officers accepted the cookies, but McGuire says when they unwrapped them the officers noticed they smelled like marijuana. ' They turned over the cookies to a Blue Mound detective, who called Lake Worth Police on the chance that Phillips would try to take cookies there as well. McGuire says that's just what he did. ' At 10:30 Monday morning, he says Phillips walked into the Lake Worth Police Department and offered cookies to those officers. He also says Phillips was carrying a list containing the names of at least six other police agencies to which he was apparently going to deliver cookies. Late Tuesday afternoon, Fort Worth police say last night they also received a delivery of cookies and candy that might have been tainted.'[2] Police on Tuesday arrested a teen they said delivered LSD-laced cookies to at least two police departments. They said Christian Phillips of Watauga, Texas, made his first delivery on Monday stopping by the Blue Mound Police Department to drop off a batch. The 18-year-old said he also planned to deliver cookies to Lake Worth Police Department, police said. Blue Mound officers said they noticed the cookies smelled of marijuana, so they called Lake Worth to alert them of the pending delivery. Phillips did not show up to his second stop until 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday. When he did, Lake Worth officers detained him. They said the cookies also smelled of marijuana and that preliminary tests confirmed they contained the powerful hallucinogenic drug LSD.[3] A teen is accused of baking drugs into cookies and then delivering them to police stations in Texas. Christian Phillips, 18, was arrested Monday and charged with drug possession after officers smelled marijuana in the homemade cookies he brought to the Lake Worth Police Department.[4] A Texas teenager is accused of delivering baskets of drug-laced treats to around a dozen police stations in the Dallas-Fort Worth area. At least three officers were ill after Christian Phillips, 18, who has been charged with LSD possession, took cookies to the Lake Worth police station, said Brett McGuire, the suburb's police chief.[5] Christian V. Phillips, 18, of Watauga, was arrested Tuesday morning after allegedly taking cookies to the Lake Worth police station, where officers had been tipped off that someone was falsely claiming to deliver treats on behalf of Mothers Against Drunk Driving, said Lake Worth Police Chief Brett McGuire. "Our officers took a good whiff and thought they smelled like marijuana," McGuire said, adding that preliminary tests instead detected traces of LSD.[1]

"We did get a positive presumptive test for LSD," said Chief Brett McGuire, Lake Worth Police Department. The Lake Worth department was tipped off by Blue Mound officers after they tested their batch of cookies that were delivered on Monday. "I don't think it would make sense to anyone who was in the right frame of mind to do something like this, especially if you're taking something to a police station. Investigators said the teen was found carrying a list with the names and addresses of 25 police departments in the Dallas-Fort Worth area he had already visited.[6] FORT WORTH - A man performing community service delivered drug-laced cookies to police departments in both Blue Mound and Lake Worth on Monday, authorities said. At least three officers at the Blue Mound Police Department consumed some food that came from a basket of cookies and assorted candies delivered by Christian Phillips, 18, on behalf of Mothers Against Drunk Driving.[7] No injuries have been reported, authorities said, but Fort Worth police have confirmed that at least three officers ate cookies from a basket delivered to the downtown office. The teen was arrested about 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Lake Worth police station after he tried to drop off a basket of cookies and candy, claiming that they came from MADD. Police identified him as Christian Phillips of Watauga.[8] A Watauga teenager was arrested Tuesday after he delivered cookies laced with LSD to the Lake Worth Police Department, officials said. Christian Phillips, 18, of Watauga may have delivered drug-tainted cookies and candy to a dozen area police departments, based on a list he was carrying that named 25 departments with 12 of them checked off, police said. Watauga police ate all the cookies taken to them.[9]

At the time, Phillips was working for MADD as part of ordered community service. It was discovered the cookies contained LSD after staff at Blue Mound thought the cookies smelled of marijuana and sent them for testing. Lake Worth Police Department, who was warned by Blue Mound, arrested Phillips when he came into their department to deliver another basket.[7] The baked goods and candies Christian delivered to police departments Tuesday were held in a bamboo basket. When authorities at the Blue Mound Police Department got a whiff of the cookies, they suspected marijuana may have been in the recipe. A test of their cookies proved them correct. Another batch of cookies was delivered to the Lake Worth Police Department.[6]

Lake Worth police were ready for Phillips. MADD officials had called the Lake Worth department Tuesday morning after they learned that someone had been delivering the baskets to area police departments, claiming to be from that agency. MADD officials said they had nothing to do with the baskets. Phillips was arrested about 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Lake Worth police station when he attempted to drop off a basket of cookies and peppermint candy, saying they came from MADD.[9] "We had already received a call to be on the lookout," Lake Worth Police Chief Brett McGuire said Tuesday. "He was detained after we took one of the cookies and it tested positive for LSD." After Phillips was arrested, Lake Worth police saw another basket in his car, which was parked at the police station, McGuire said.[9] Police say three officers in Forth Worth got sick after eating some cookies and candy from a basket delivered to that police station Monday night. Police had the cookies sent to a lab and they tested positive for the drug LSD. Police say they were tipped off to be on the lookout, for the cookies and the man delivering them. That man is 18-year-old Christian Phillips.[10] About a dozen cookies, wrapped in blue tissue paper, along with mints in a wicker basket were fashioned as a thoughtful gift for Lake Worth officers and staff. Police had already been tipped off to be on the lookout, for the treats and the man delivering them. That man, police say, is 18-year-old Christian Phillips.[11]

Officers in Lake Worth were tipped off that someone was delivering treats and falsely claiming to be a representative of Mothers Against Drunk Driving. Lake Worth officers thought they smelled marijuana in the cookies, but they tested for LSD. Phillips, who may face additional or different charges, said he didn't try to contaminate the cookies and said his friend may have been smoking marijuana while he was baking them.[12]

Fort Worth police said Tuesday that three officers ate treats that might have been laced with LSD. The officers have been contacted for medical reasons. Police in nearby Lake Worth detained a delivery person after treats dropped off at their department tested positive for illegal drugs.[13] LAKE WORTH A teen with a list of Fort Worth-area police departments was arrested Tuesday after he attempted to deliver cookies laced with LSD to the Lake Worth Police Department. The 18-year-old had a list with the names of 25 area police departments and 12 of them were checked off, police said.[8] LAKE WORTH, Texas (AP) - A man accused of delivering drug-laced cookies to some police departments in North Texas has been arrested today.[14] FORT WORTH, Texas A man accused of delivering baskets of drug-laced cookies to as many as a dozen police departments, causing several officers to become sick, was arrested Tuesday.[1] FORT WORTH, Texas (AP) — A teenager is suspected of delivering baskets of drug-laced treats to about a dozen police departments in the Dallas-Fort Worth area, according to police who charged him Tuesday with LSD possession. At least three officers have gotten sick.[15]

Police found that Phillips had a list of about two dozen police departments in north Texas, with all 13 checked off. He is charged with LSD possession.[10]

Christian Phillips allegedly delivered drug-laced cookies to two North Texas police departments on July 7, 2008.[2] The father of a Watauga teen arrested for allegedly delivering cookies laced in drugs to North Texas police departments expressed disbelief Tuesday.[6] Phillips, who has a prior arrest for assaulting a police officer in Watauga, is a volunteer for Mothers Against Drunk Driving as part of a community service sentence, police said. He was apparently delivering the cookies on behalf on MADD but it was not clear if he might have tainted the treats or switched out the orginals with the ones laced with drugs. The executive director of MADD's North Texas chapter, Mary Kardell, released this statment: "We are profoundly concerned about this incident and are conducting our own investigation at this time to determine the facts.[3]

In Fort Worth on Tuesday, police were contacting officers who may have eaten the goodies and were attempting to confirm the presence of LSD or any other drugs in the food. MADD officials said Tuesday that they are conducting their own investigation. "We are profoundly concerned about this incident," MADD-North Texas Executive Director Mary Kardell said Tuesday in a prepared statement.[9] Initial field tests showed the cookies to be laced with LSD and possibly marijuana. Police found a list of about 25 local law enforcement agencies that presumably would be receiving such cookies. The same man also dropped off a basket of cookies and other assorted candies Monday night at the Fort Worth police headquarters building. He said the cookies were all eaten and the basket was empty by Tuesday morning. At least three police officers including a sergeant and a detective were among those that consumed some of the items.[16] In nearby Fort Worth, at least three officers got sick after eating some cookies and candy after a basket was delivered to that police station Monday night, authorities said.[1] A basket was delivered Monday to the Fort Worth Police Department's downtown headquarters, and at least three officers, including a sergeant and a detective, ate some of the items, Fort Worth police said. Fort Worth and Watauga police are investigating whether the food they received was drugged and whether any of the officers who ate it suffered adverse reactions, authorities said.[9]

LAKE WORTH, Texas (AP) — Authorities in Texas are investigating whether treats dropped off at police departments contained illegal drugs, and they believe some officers might have eaten them.[13] LAKE WORTH, TX (NBC) - A Texas teen is behind bars after allegedly dropping off drug-laced cookies at two police departments. It was a representative of MADD that made the phone call warning about the delivery.[16]

The 18-year-old man was arrested after taking cookies to the Lake Worth police station, said Brett McGuire, the suburb's police chief.[15] "We had already received a call to be on the lookout," Lake Worth Police Chief Brett McGuire tells the Star-Telegram. "He was detained after we took one of the cookies and it tested positive for LSD."[4] Lake Worth Chief Brett McGuire says the treats were tested after officers became suspicious. He says preliminary tests showed the presence of LSD, a hallucinogen.[13]

That's according to police in the town of Lake Worth, where 18-year-old Christian Phillips has been charged with LSD possession.[17] Eighteen-year-old Christian V. Phillips of Watauga was arrested after allegedly taking cookies to the Lake Worth police station.[14]

Lake Worth investigators say Phillips had a list of about two dozen North Texas departments, with 13 checked off.[14]

The cookies were sent to the lab, and tested positive for L-S-D. Using a drug sniffing dog, police say they also found another identical basket of cookies in the Phillips' car and a list of 26 other police departments.[11] "A field test was done and the cookie tested positive for marijuana," Cain said. Saginaw Police Chief Roger Macon said Tuesday that his department was on the teen's list for a delivery, but he never showed up.[8] Phillips is still fulfilling community service for the assault charge. Saginaw Police Chief Roger Macon said Tuesday said that his department was on the teen's list for a delivery but that Phillips never showed up.[9]

The paper says Phillips had checked off 12 of 25 police departments on a list of agencies in the Dallas-Fort Worth region.[4]

Everything isn't always what it seems. Police say a man dropped off an innocent looking basket of cookies at a police department in Texas, but they were loaded with more than just chocolate chips. "They took a good whiff of the cookies and thought they smelled like marijuana, the detective then brought him back, then detained him and began to question him."[11] When a Blue Mound officer picked up one of the cookies, it smelled like marijuana, Cain said. "A field test was done, and the cookie tested positive for marijuana," he said.[9] Officers there had been tipped off that someone was falsely claiming to deliver treats on behalf of Mothers Against Drunk Driving. "Our officers took a good whiff and thought they smelled like marijuana," McGuire said, adding that preliminary tests instead detected traces of LSD.[15] Police Chief Brett McGuire says officers had been tipped about someone falsely claiming to deliver treats for Mothers Against Drunk Driving.[14]

Lake Worth's police chief says the suspect denied trying to contaminate the treats or harm anyone.[10]

Phillips remained jailed in Lake Worth pending an arraignment Wednesday. Bail had not been set, and he did not yet have an attorney, McGuire said.[1] Phillips remained in the Lake Worth Jail late Tuesday on suspicion of possession of a controlled substance.[9]

"Of the stations Phillips made deliveries to, there were reports of at least three Fort Worth officers who ate the cookies last week," WFAA-TV reports.[4] Investigators say at least three Fort Worth officers ate some delivered items and got sick.[14]

The Fort Worth department is contacting officers who might have been exposed.[8]

According to the department, it received a Monday night delivery of cookies and other goodies. At least three officers, including a sergeant and detective, consumed some of the items, police said. In response to the incident, the department released this statement: "The department is currently contacting officers who worked the overnight shift who were possibly exposed last night.[3] The good Samaritan had laced the cookies with LSD. Investigators say a police dog noticed something wrong with the cookies, so they had them tested and found the drug. They say at least three officers had already eaten the cookies before the tampering was discovered. No word on what kind of day the officers had after their little snack, but the man who brought the cookies was arrested.[18] Police there are conducting tests and plan to file charges if LSD or another drug or chemical is found in the food, said Lt. Paul Henderson.[15] Police said will seek charges if the cookies or candy test positive for drugs.[8]

Police in Blue Mound received a basket filled with candy and cookies just before 8 p.m. Monday.[8] "There were some homemade cookies," Blue Mound police Lt. Thomas Cain said Tuesday. "It looked like the basket had come from MADD."[8]

"From time to time, we'll get food items from groups and individuals," Macon said. "But if it's unsolicited, we always get rid of it." After the teen's arrest Tuesday, authorities alerted area law enforcement agencies about any suspicious baskets with the MADD logo on them arriving at police stations.[8] A Texas teen delivered a basket of cookies to about a dozen police stations, but they were loaded with more than just chocolate chips.[10]

Police on Tuesday arrested a teen they said delivered LSD-laced cookies to at least two police departments.[3]

Police also said that a Tarrant County Sheriff's dog indicated a positive result for marijuana on the cookies, and Phillips' money and car.[3] Phillips had been doing community service work for an assault on police officer charge, authorities said.[16] Christian Phillips was taken into custody and later charged with possession of the powerful hallucinogen, although the charge may be changed, McGuire said. The suspect denied trying to contaminate the goodies or harm anyone and said one of his friends might have been smoking pot while Phillips was baking, McGuire said.[15] Phillips was taken into custody and later charged with possession of LSD. ' McGuire says the Tarrant County District Attorney's office is considering additional charges. Phillips reportedly denied trying to contaminate the goodies or harm anyone and said one of his friends may have been smoking pot while he was baking.[2]

Preliminary tests found traces of LSD. Phillips is charged with possession of LSD.[14]

A loud party was reported to Watauga police on July 21, 2007, and Phillips opened the door when police arrived, police said. Phillips tried to shut the door on officers and when an officer propped the door open with his arm, Phillips swatted it away, according to police reports. [9] Watauga police received an unknown amount of cookies and all were eaten, police said Tuesday.[9]

According to Watauga police reports, Phillips has a criminal history in that city.[9]

In a statement, police spokesman Lt. Paul Henderson says at least three police officers ate items from the basket.' Henderson won't say whether the officers suffered any effects from what they ate.' He says the items in the basket are being tested for drugs. [2] Prosecutors will not file charges against a Howard County police officer who shot a knife-wielding, 62-year-old woman in her Columbia apartment.[11]

TEXAS (NEWSCHANNEL 3) - Officers in North Texas got an unexpected gift this week. A visitor showed their appreciation by dropping cookies off to several departments. The problem was that these weren't quite like grandma used to make.[18] Investigators believe the teen may have started dropping off the baskets with candy and cookies about a week ago. The baskets included a logo indicating that they were from Mothers Against Drunk Driving, or MADD.[9]
