thats wierd, because the cops up here are still on the phone all the time, and apparenlty they're allowed to be, which i dont like, if everyone else is not allowed to, they shouldn't be allowed to either, because you know those calls on the phone are personal, because they've got the radio's for contacts

As far as I'm concerned all cell phones should be banned from the car unless you are using a hands free device.

The distraction is not having a hand off the wheel, the distraction is paying more attention to the actual message and conversation itself than you are to driving your vehicle in my opinon.

The general concensus I get from everyone I've talked to is that it should be illegal, but even the ones who admit to that will, about 60-70% of the time, confess that they do not intend to stop texting/talking on the phone while driving.... interesting.

Like I said earlier, I use a bluetooth hands free through my Garmin GPS and I don't make calls. If I receive a call it's usually from my Dad or Fiance and I have a choice of not to answer it. The number flashes on my garmin to show me who's calling.

...Thanks member's for your post/words on thread topic poll. I'm happy 2 read that the majority believes it should be illegal. The auto industry is making more gadgets to distract you when driv'in your 3500lb Monte Carlo down your highways of `life...

I believe that operating a Motor Vehicle should require 100% of the driver's attention. I don't drive very much, but when I do, I think every crazy driver decides to be on the roads when I'm out there. I sure don't like big cities...When I go 2 Orlando, it's like I entered a "See who can run you off the road first lol 4-Sure...It's like playing bumper cars on the roads....

I multi task all the time, but not while I'm driving...I don't want to crash & hurt/kill someone 4-Sure...I know 2 many that drink & drive/Smoke & drive/Text/Phone & drive, eat & drive, watch movies/tv etc....Driving is a privledge, not a right.....OK, that's all that's fall'in outa my spaceHead...

I posted a seperate topic for this... maybe it's a GPS, but it's the biggest GPS I ever saw in my life if it is... which is made and looks exactly like a netbook.

LOL @ that photo

So, I was driving today and someone went into my lane from the oncoming lane while either texting or reading a text on their phone and after they did it they kept on texting. Seriously.

I used to have a Nokia bar type phone and had the keyboard memorized, I did text while driving from time to time, and could do it without taking my eyes off the road. I now have an iPhone, and there is no way you can text while driving with the full keyboard. It just ins't feasible.

I do however use my phone for a GPS frequently. It wedges in the gap between the center of the steering column, and the top of the wheel perfectly, and the GPS shows your speed with good enough accuracy that blocking the speedo isn't an issue. thats probably as bad as texting though.

I wish the car had bluetooth and would sync the phone to the speakers, that would be slick.
