In 1972, a Congressionally created commission called the National Commission on Marihuana and Drug Abuse, whose members were appointed by then President Richard Nixon, completed one of the most comprehensive reviews ever undertaken regarding marijuana and public policy. Their report, "Marihuana: A Signal of Misunderstanding," proclaimed that "from what is now known about the effects of marihuana, its use at the present level does not constitute a major threat to public health," and recommended Congress and state legislatures decriminalize the use and casual distribution of marijuana for personal use.

Since then, researchers have conducted thousands of studies regarding marijuana’s health impacts. None of these have revealed any findings dramatically different from those described by Nixon’s 1972 Commission.

I tried pot when I was a kid and I didn't enjoy the effects. However, just because I wouldn't use it, doesn't mean that other people should be prohibited from enjoying it's use. In my opinion, it should be regulated at a level higher than cigarettes, but lower than alcohol.

Hi `Greg (Short-Timer in the US Army),
Thanks for your post & link/opinion. I also think it should be legal with a high tax...In Colorado the age limit is over 21 years old...

I tried it in my early teens & liked it, but after I got caught by my grandfather I stopped...I'm 2 much in2 health & don't like that part of it, but `if it were legal...I love brownie's (LOL)...

I just know people everywhere are doing it, but the USA could profit in taxes from the legal sales vs other countries or organized crime receiving the profits...

The company I work for has surprise testing for drugs & even if it is approved, I don't think I would want to have a bunch of stoned workers drivers around the warehouse (lol). I think what people do in their own homes is their business...There's drunks & dopers out there driving now on the road...I think it could be controlled & the fines/penalities should fit the crime or violations...It's all about control....The USA or States have not been able to control the illegal use 4-Sure....

OK, whose next to post or pass it to the next person...Oh, got a light ?

*ps `Sgt Miller, good luck on your transition & getting a good `job...

Yes it should be legalized, taken off the controlled substance list, regulated and taxed. Boom, more jobs, more taxes being collected.

Personnally:
I got no use for the stuff...
Medical or otherwise...

There comes a point and time in your life...when its time to grow up...
To be honest there is no medical benefit from marijuana,(SPEAKING FROM EXPERIENCE)

Yaa when i was younger i smoked and sold my share of it..
Today... I have an older brother and a Younger brother that still smoke it... I hate being around them when they do.... They get all stupid..forgetful, And then they try to drive...Talk about paranoid???

I finally disconnected with them... In no specific words..I said....If your gonna smoke that crap...stay away from me!
When you finally straighten up...maybe,maybe...then I will talk to ya...

As it stands...There whole day revolves around that crap! (WHAT A WASTE) Day in Day out...all Day Everyday... And neither one of them have a pot to **** in !!!
No neither one can hang on to a job either!
Thats my 2cents....on pot legalization!

I'd rather hang out with people that are high on pot rather than people that are drunk...

Stumpmi, sounds like your siblings just have no self control - no offense. Driving after being intoxicated in any form is just stupid. Smoking all day, or drinking all day for that matter, is stupid. Just out of curiosity, what are your thoughts on alcohol?
