When I lived in the Everglades, I used to go out in my canoe looking for possums in the bayou country. One day in early May an angry alligator bit a hole in my boat and it sank like a lead-filled rat. Luckily, a fisherman came along and yelled "Did you sink in de bayou?" He pulled me out and when we got to dry land, I said "Thanks a lot! Let's go grab a few Bud Lights and celebrate the day I didn't sink in de bayou." And that, ladies & gentlemen, is how "Cinco de Mayo" came to be a national holiday every May 5th. (They don't spell so great in the back country).

Good morning, appreciating that it is Saturday. Gonna clean and wax the Monte and maybe go to the camper and weed eat since we are responsible for the yard. Cloudy and misting, so gotta let that clear up to sun and then 80 degrees. Got yard here at home all done last night just before the heavy rains came.

Morning all. Took my youngest for soccer pictures at 7:45 AM, then a soccer game at 9 AM. After that both girls are going to Pittsburgh with friends, the dad is running in the marathon there tomorrow. He raised money for the leukemia/lymphoma society and is dedicating his run to my wife, wearing a jersey-shirt with her picture on it. I have to go mow some grass for the next 3-4 hours or so.
