Everybody be very very careful today. The Tornado threat is huge today.
"Moderate risk and large risk area for strong tornadoes just issued in Storm Prediction Center Day 1 outlook for today (Saturday).
Anywhere from Evansville, IN to Beaumont, TX will have a strong tornado threat, including Jackson, MS; Memphis, TN; Nashville, TN; Paducah, KY; and Alexandria, LA to name a few locations.
Today will be a very dangerous day across the Lower MS River and western Ohio River Valleys... I wouldn't be surprised at all if over 100 tornadoes are reported."

This is a very strong system as you can see behind it is very heavy ice conditions!
Current radar:

Current Watches and Warnings
Any Purple and Pink is Ice or Winter storm watches/Warnings.
Greens are Flood watches/warnings.

The Winter Solstice officially begins at 12:11 p.m. Eastern time. Here are five facts about the first day of winter.

Winter officially begins on Saturday, Dec. 21
. It's also the shortest day of the year - and the longest night, when the sun reaches its southernmost point in the sky.
Maybe the best thing about Dec. 21, is we can start looking forward to more daylight hours ahead.

Five things to know about Winter Solstice:
Why ?

Five things to know about Winter Solstice:
Why ?
- The Winter Solstice officially begins 12:11 p.m. Eastern time. The United States will receive nine hours and 32 minutes of daylight.
- The solstice occurs due to the Earth’s axis of rotation, which for the Winter Solstice in the Northern Hemisphere, is faced the furthest away from the sun.
- The word “solstice” comes from the Latin words “sol” for sun and “sisto” for “stop.” On Dec. 21, the sun will stop moving southward, pause and begin moving northward. The date has held special meaning throughout history.
- The winter solstice was celebrated as the return of the sun. In Scandanavia, the time would be marked by burning large logs -- believing that each spark from the fire would represent a new pig or calf in the new year. In Rome, early Romans observed Saturnalia, a holiday in honor of Saturn, the god of agriculture, and Juvenalia, a feast honoring the children of Rome.
- While the it may be the day where the Northern Hemisphere is furthest away from the sun, that doesn't necessarily make it the coldest day of the year. There's a “lag” between the shortest day and the coldest temperature, according to the National Weather Service.
- It will 'be in the Mid 80's today in Central Florida...
- I can't go snow boarding today, but maybe go Surf'in

- Wish 'You > Yes You a Super New Day/WeekEnd & Holidays.....> EnJoy

Good Morning Ev1!
Devin:
Thanks for starting the daily Blog.
Looks like Michigan weather is going to play havoc on us today/tonight.
Devin and Matt you guys are sure on it forsure!
Had an interesting night/morning...
At 1 am this morning we experienced a power outage...
Our power didn't return until this morning... Talk about a cold night, This was one of the best nights of my life... Talk about quality time with the Mrs..
I think all married people should take one night and pretend that theres no power, (especially in the winter) But since we actually did lose the power made it all that much more real! LOL... Ya it got a weee bit chilly, but it sure was quiet in the household... No sounds except of 2 people in each others company and making the most of it.
So next time you want to spend some quality time with your significant other... Maybe a power outage would spice up your relationship!
Have a Great Day EV1!
