Default Sad News :(

On tuesday the 3rd, while i was driving home, due to the poor lighting of the streets at night here in Pensacola, Fl and "awesome" abundance of road animals, i found myself in a situation i had been expecting for a long time since i've been here.

While coming on a ramp to get on the main road just 3 miles away from my house (3 miles, i mean, F#@*!!!!!!! ). A cute little critter decided to cross my path in a very sudden and dramatic way, causing me to slam on my brakes and the Monte to slide off the road. As i tried to bring the car back onto the road, my car kept sliding and spinning in a full 360 which in turn i ended up slamming the front end into the side rail and "slapping" it with the driver's side tail light. After the unfortunate event was over. I got out of my car to see the damages, and the only response i had was a few tears rolling down my cheek. The front of the car was completely destroyed, and so was the driver's side tail light area.

I'm not religious by any means and eventhough my car was totalled, the only thing i am grateful for, is that, that night somebody was looking down on me and decided it was not my time. I was able to walk out of this with just a bad memory.

All i'm trying to say here is... If you see a road animal, remember your car is heavier and bigger.

Definitely. I will never swerve for a small animal. And when you are on a public street, NEVER brake for one either. You don't need someone rear-ending you because a bunny was in the road.

I'm very sorry to hear that you totalled the Monte

Sorry to hear your Monte was totaled, but I'm glad you weren't (physically) injured. Will your insurance cover it so you can get another one?

Sorry to hear about your Monte. Glad to hear you're OK.

Having lived much of my life in areas with an abundance of critters, I learned long ago not to take evasive action for anything smaller than a moose. But I also know that it can be tough to put that idea into action on the spur of the moment. It's natural to want to avoid hitting the critter.
