How about a sentance like "I need a sheet of 18-gauge sheet metal." Why not just say "I need a sheet of 18-gauge metal."?

Another would be "Soda pop." Either say soda or pop. Not both.

Interesting statement! My friends from the Mid-West say that soda is just carbinated water and pop is flavored carbinated water.
