Default President sets new mpg standard

New mileage standards aim for less fuel, pollution - Yahoo! News 54.5 mpg by 2025, sounds insane... I'll take raw horsepower over silly hybrids... Sure they're better on gas but they're more expensive and they're so complicated you can hardly do any work on them yourselves.

Very true. My Fusion SEL cost me about 28k after I added a few things, but new 2012s are 27,205 for the SEL and 29,395 for the Hybrid... Not too bad, but if you start w/ the base model Fusion it's over 9k difference for a Hybrid...and you really don't get a lot with the Hybrid, you're just paying for better MPGs...the extra features add on even more.

isn't that just an AVERAGE across your vehicle line? Doesn't mean EVERY car is getting that.

Some could have 70-80 and be electric, while real cars still get 30 and power

President is gona have to drive himself in a
Chevy Cruze

What frustrates me is that gas prices are so high, people jump on the hybrids to save gas, but somewhere along the line I can't help thinking that since we (public) are not buying more gas because of hybrids, big oil will jack up the price to maintain profits.

The whole ordeal is a mess... the government talks about dependency on foreign oil, but restricts the viable supplies we have access to. I believe the government purposely allows gas prices to stay high to continue pushing 'GREEN' technology. But I don't want to digress on that....

I just know that I've committed to not buying new cars and only buy used cars now to avoid these new MPG standards. gas guzzlers and project cars!

I just like a car that moves out of the way when you step on gas pedal, not crawl out of the way..

we will have at least one or 2 presidents before 2025...everything will change by then. Now if he can put his foot down about national debt that'd be pretty good...
