Pontiac Tribute Day *June 1*
Have to agree with ya on the Buick thing. Buicks are hugely popular overseas. And all jokes aside, there really is a big market for Buicks here in North America. People looking for the larger cars with a bit of luxury to them.
With Pontiac and Oldsmobile gone, Buick is definitely an important line of vehicles for GM to keep.
Pontiac was GM's "sporty" line of cars. Or so they claimed. But I think GM could do something like offer a Pontiac-style sporty look to their Chevy cars. As an option maybe?
Like for example, maybe have a "Pontiac" appearance option for the Impala that changed the grill, bumper cover, etc. to one that looks like the G8. Just a thought. Don't think it would be very practical for GM to make though.

Yep, the only reason they kept Buick over Pontiac was because of sales overseas, especially in China. According to my service advisor at the Chevy dealer, the China market see's a Buick like we see a Mercedes, Buicks are "the thing to own" if you want to make a wealthy look for yourself in China. Thats what I was told anyway.
I think in the US market, Pontiac had stronger sales than Buick, but overall, Buick was stronger. I must say, some of the new Buicks are really looking pretty nice. A good blend of sporty style, and luxury IMO.
Since my Mom has a Bonneville, we keep getting letters in the mail as part of the "staying in the family" advertising GM has been doing for previous Pontiac owners. We get offers for $1,000-3,000 off of MSRP on any new GM vehicle, that is on top of any other offers, just because we have a Pontiac and they want us to continue buying GM. I've read the letters, and it says you DO NOT need to trade in your Pontiac to get the deals, you just need to provide proof that you own the Pontiac, or have owned the Pontiac they are refering too.

Goodwrench Dave, that's a great shot!
Another questions why are GTO's referred to as "Goats"? lol
As for the GTO to Goats? I can only think that the letters G T and O are all in goats...don't see much beyond that though.
