Default One Of THOSE kind Of Days

Went to a swap meet at the Clark Co Fairgrounds on saturday. A somewhat nice day. A little too windy for me, but that's just my opinion.

Saw a few friends selling parts as usual. One friend had a new (but used) set of leaf springs he was selling. He wanted $100 for both springs. But "Just for me" he'd take $80. So I told him I'd think about it and we walked on to look at more parts.

The more I got to thinking, I knew this guy was hurting for money. So I counted my cash and told my girlfriend I was going to buy the springs. We walked back just to see two guys eyeing the springs. One asked my friend what he'd take for them? My friend answered "Just for you, give me $75 and you can have them." The guy was just about to buy the springs so I spoke up and said I wanted them. I'd already counted out the $80 and had my girlfriend hold the cash while I picked up the springs. I reminded my friend he owned me $5 and to hand it to my girlfriend.

Got the springs in the car and left. Cause I knew I only had $178. And minus the $75 for the springs I now had $103 in my pocket. Stopped for lunch my girlfriend paid for then headed home. After unloading the parts I bought I decided to count my remaining cash. $78? What? There should be $103, no $78.

It seems two $20 stuck together when I counted the money out for the springs. So I called another friend to see if he had this other guy's phone number? He gave it to me and called the man I bought the springs from. I spoke to his wife and asked if there was a chance I could get my $20 back as I was 100% sure what had taken place.

So far, this friend who sold me the springs has not returned my call. Sure it's only $20. I need to figure out if a 30 year friendship is worth getting mad over $20?

If you knew he was hurting for $ that bad, think of it as a 20$ donation to someone who needs it
Of course if YOU are hurting for $, and really need it, then id ask for it back.
Of course, just my opinion of what i would do.i mean a 30 year friendship?! thats older than me! :O i wouldnt let 20 ruin that.

I doesn't seem like it would be real productive to get mad over a twenty dollar bill. I am not sure how good a friend he is though. He gave the other guy that he didn't know a price cheaper than he offered to you. That is what would have pissed me off. It sounds like a one sided friendship.

MAtters now, but probably won't later. As you said, he's hurting for money. Wait for karma to get him. And it was techincally your fault for letting the money stick together. Besides, he may not realize the money is stuck together, he may pass it on to someone else like that. New money sticks together a bit too well. My dad always sits aorund wrinkling his money so it won't do that when he gets it from an ATM

And the difference in cash you're giving there is $30, not $20.
