Default NYC adventures

Well yesterday was a loooong day. i got up at 9am and was on the road at 10am to my friends place on the other side of the river in Lake Peekskill, NY. Some other people i know were up from West pennsylvania(west of pittsburgh) After hanging out there for a while we all piled up in this one guys caddilac. old 1996 caddilac _________ (if anyone knows the model, let me know) Heres a picture of it.

First we set off for breakfast (at like 12pm we left) Went to a bagel shop in Thornwood, NY that i've been to before with some of these guys. After that we were NYC bound, It was me, my friend josh, his girlfriend heather, his friend chris and chris's friend Jon. Jon had never been to NYC so there was lots of showing to do. Chris used to live in the area but moved out to PA. The purpose of this trip was to attend a club meeting in Manhatten, UTC(urban transit club) Josh is the chairman of it and they have monthly meetings. All of us are rail fans(exept heather)

In my life i have been to the city probably 10 or less times.(exluding going there to leave for vacation, cruise, flight) Jon having never been there, it was alot of showing around to him, (me too). Im going to assume most of you have not been to the city before, but there is always just so much going on all around you, lots to see and just people everywhere and the roads suck.... With 5 people crammed in this caddy we were constantly bottoming out and boucing all over the place

But while cruising all around we got pulled over.. The driver was not wearing his seatbelt and got a $130 ticket.Eventually we parked the car somewhere(i have no idea where) And took the subway all around to do more looking and so on. Once we got back to the car we got 1 more tickets 1 was for displaying the parking sticker incorrectly and the 2nd was for an out of date NY inspection sticker. Next we went to a deli that josh and chris sweared by called Katz's Deli. Located on Houston st. The place was really neat, big place, pictures lined the walls everywhere along with tons of neon lights. I wasn't particularly hungry but i had fries and sampled some other guys stuff and it was very good, expensive($8.75 for fries and a can of soda) but good. During this lunch all hell broke loose outside with a storm that came through but luckily it passed by the time we went back out.

Just driving around the city is an adventure if you're with the right people(oh was i ever) Between commentary about places and random screaming and yelling at random people, and the caddy horn... That quad tone horn was awesome to have in the traffic down there(everyone drives like an a hole and you have to drive aggresive) From a guys point of view, there is almost always something nice to look at on the sideways if you know what i mean Eventually we got parking(impossible challenge) and went and did our meeting/show. Found out we left the digital projector back up in Peekskill, so an emergency purcahse of a new one was needed But the show went on.

After the show i went and got a few shots of the empire state building which is always lit up at night in various colors for different reasons. This weekend it was yellow in honor of finals weekend at the us open. Now being that it was maybe 12am or later on a saturday night, bars were hoppin tons of people still everywhere but the drunks were starting to show up Watching drunk people try and walk down the sidewalk or catch a cab is endless entertainment We went to a place called Crif's dogs. Supposedly some of the best hot dogs in the city. its in this little place in a basement of a building. Maybe 8 feet wide, and only 6 foot cielings. But man it was packed!! music blasting, real hip place to hang out supposedly, and through a telephone booth like door there was a bar somewhere too.

After wandering around for a few more hours we eventually went back north, using local city streets. We went from 14th st and 1st ave up to 125th st and 1st ave, on all green lights. Thats impossible to do Driving at the right speed all the lights were timed so they turn green as you go, was pretty awesome. Rest of the ride was pretty uneventful on the way back.

Once i got back to there place(around 2am) i still had to get my **** home which was another hour ish drive. Once back in my town on local roads(everything empty) Im cruising along about 50-55(speed limit 55) and i notice a car creeping up on my so i was gonna bump it up to 60 until i noticed it was crown vic, not sure why but i lost my cool figuring it was a cop(usually keep my cool) and my figuring was confirmed when it lit up like a christmas tree. So i pulled over wondering what i did.. Cop asked where i was headin, where i was coming from. Took my license and registration. Went to his car for a few mins, came back, handed me my stuff and told me have a good night. No ticket, but no clue why i was pulled over

Was a very good night and i needed a good night out, if you actually read all that above congrats And everyone should make a trip to nyc at some point in their life, theres tons to see and lots to do.

Now here is a link that will hopefully work, this is my mobile uploads album on facebook, im too lazy to upload all the pics and post em again so if you would like to see the pics click the link below. Thanks for lookin

WOW!! what a busy night!!! haha at least it wasnt boring? hahaha good story!
Sounds like the caddy is a heat magnet!
Been to NYC once and was 50/50 about being there! too many people around and dirty! But site seeing was neat, went up the empire state building to the top and took a tour of the NBC building and central park.
Pictures work!

I dont liked packed places and crowds usually either but i really enjoyed myself last night. IMO the city is a great place to go for a night/day or whatever but i wouldn't want to live there. Plus living there is very expensive.

That's exactly how I felt after my one visit to NYC, about 20 years ago.
The crowded streets and people rushing everywhere were kinda scary but fascinating to be a part of for a while. I can't imagine living there - a one day visit was fun, but we had to go back to Long Island to relax and de-stress!

Good story Keane. Sounds like you guys had fun. We always go to Vegas while were in Az for the winter. My buddy from Detroit met us out there a couple of yrs ago. We left my wife back at the MGM and we hit the streets for a long while. So we get a cab and go to downtown ( old Vegas) We get in the cab & my buddy as step on it. The cab driver says WHAT. Wes says back to him I always wanted to say that to a cabbie. To our surprise he nails it for a couple of blocks and then slows down. Guy was a riot! Then when we were headed back to the MGM. Get another cab & what does he say this time. Foloow that car I'm crackin up. The cabbie is playing right along. Some cabbie are cool as hell. We gave both of them a NICE tip. SORRY

I've been working in the city for the past 14+ plus years....13+ years downtown, and the last 6 months in midtown, and I LOVE it...yes it takes some getting used to, but I wouldn't wanna work anywhere else in the world!!!
