Cadillac CTS
News & Reviews

What it is: A production version of the CTS coupe concept shown at the ’08 Detroit auto show. Like the CTS- V sedan, a V-series coupe will put out the most power in the segment, 550 horses. Non- V-series will get the direct-injection 304-hp V-6 from the CTS sedan; the 258-hp V-6 doesn’t make it into the coupe.
Why it’s important: Gives Cadillac a much-needed sports coupe to go against the German and Japanese competition.
Platform: Same wheelbase and rear-drive Sigma platform as the sedan. Sportier coupe styling makes the two-door’s body a few inches shorter overall.
Competition: CTS- V: Think BMW M3. Base CTS coupe will compete with the Audi A5, BMW 3-series, Dodge Challenger, Infiniti G37, Mercedes-Benz CLK-class.
Estimated arrival and cost: Promised for the end of 2009. Expect to pay $40,000 for a V-6 model, $50,000 for a CTS- V.
Note: The information and artist’s rendering above are speculative and subject to change.

That would be nice for a MC platform.

However, not likely whatsoever.

I think there will be another future Monte Carlo from G.M.
Remember, if U pay taxes, U R part owner of GM...Send them a email & let them know

I think they could design/create a Monte Carlo on the above platform with less weight & without all the electronic toys & make it 4 under $30k : ) "2 DARE 2`Dream in SpaceVision"

GM is consolidating production and trying to stream line, or atleast they should be. They'll probably just keep the Impala and Malibu's for sedan's, the Cobalt for economy, and the Camaro and Corvette for performance, and then the trucks. Luxury will be left to the Cadillac division, I think. There's just no room for another Monte Carlo. And maybe that's for the best, if they can't make a car true to the Monte Carlo's legacy, then they should not make one at all, I say. It's better that it's legacy remain untainted rather than just slapping it's name badge on a lack luster car.

Chevy is going to be the normal cars, and Cadillac WILL be luxury.

I believe Dodge is doing a restructure that is similar, where the Dodge will have the normals and they are going to try to bring Chrysler back and compete with Cadillac / Lincoln for luxury.

I'm just trying to be realistic - the only reason they kept the Monte Carlo alive recently was because of NASCAR IMHO. Now that the MC's are being replaced with Impalas, I don't think we'll see another Monte for a while. Now if GM proves me wrong, I might just be so surprised that I go out and buy one.
