I agree with the above post, its a business and the media attention is free advertising.
Its got us talking about it.
NASCAR doesn't retire numbers, and Dale Sr isn't the only driver to die. I think they should have brought it back sooner. And, there is a whole history to that number before Dale had it.
Dale was a great driver. But he earned himself the intimidator nickname by pushing other drivers out of the way, sometimes causing accidents that could have killed somebody.
I became a Jeff Gordon fan the first time I saw him beat Earnhardt fair and square.
And the new kid, Austin, has to earn some respect and he started that yesterday with the pole for the 500. I'll predict he'll crash out of the 500 because they won't be shy about pushing him out of the way.
