It stinks and it's stupid for RCR to do that, even Dale SR's mom says so...

Don't get me started. I say I don't care, then I rant and realize I'm as passionate about this as anyone.

IMO Childress is being selfish and disrespectful to Dale Sr. fans and there are a lot of 'em. It's the fans that pay the bills...

I think there's plenty of other numbers available. Leave the #3 retired.

The only way I could appreciate the #3 being used...
Would be by Dale Jr ONLY! (Keeping it in the Family Way) IMO
Otherwise yes its disrespectful to Dale Sr.!!!!!

I can see Richard Petty re-using his #42. He retired from the sport. But Dale died in the car during a race.

That's very true...
I guess to me it would also be like keeping the Earnhardt legacy alive...
Make sense?

But your right...

For the record, if Jeff Gordon died the same way, I'd say there's a case for retiring the #24 also.

I was a huge Earnhardt fan back in the day and after his passing, seeing Harvick come in and perform really well right away, I turned into a huge Harvick fan and still am today. I've always been a Childress supporter but the way they've handled things recently is questionable. I'm particularly not thrilled with the way Kevin was forced out to make way for the Dillon brothers, although I think it will be good for Kevin to have a new start.

I'm so used to seeing the 3 on black; it just looks right. Budweiser came in as Harvick's sponsor for 2011 and I was extremely happy to see that 29 car back to black w/ red and white; very reminiscent of Dale's car.

I don't think Nascar has retired a number before so this raises a whole new topic. I don't know. Part of me has no opinion but there's never going to be another driver even close to Earnhardt when you talk about driving style. Period. Harvick has similarities, and I think that's one reason why I like Kevin a lot, but Earnhardt was just in a class by himself.

I totally agree with you Matt!
There will never be another driver ever that will have the "Intimidation" factors and ability's of Dale Earnhardt Senior!

But Harvick...
He's the closest thing we will ever see of an Dale Earnhardt Sr. Style!
