It was bad fast.......... But a beautiful ride. They made an aftermarket item for these cars called a Hono-overdrive so you could have the low gears for the strip and still drive the Hiway. No Automatics in these rides. Nice job way to go!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I think this was supposed to get 11.5 ET in the 1/4 mile the one I drove was just about a second faster, it was a brownish copper one as I recall. The guy who owned had plenty of money but no driving savi and we took it racing and this sucker moved. No nitrous on this car it was all the race car & driver. When he wanted to know if I thought I could handle it? I said only one was to find out lets try it out. I like to get them sideways a bit but this one had Traction bars on leaf springs and it held her down pretty good. After he cleaned up a bit we did that on the race track. Not sure what happened to the guy after that he may have been drafted or something, drafted in this case is not a racing term.

We have a winner Butch049 Guessed the Vega GT Kammback the 75 and 76 Looked very much alike.
I owned one of these and It was the Hugger Orange, had a small aluminum 4 cyl engine in it and it was the 2 door version, it was a 1976 and bought it right off the show room.
Fun little thing.
I lived in Iowa at the time and once it got to 31 degrees this thing wouldn't start after 2 hours setting time. I had a block heater on it and it was in my Garage which was heated all the time. Still wouldn't start after it went outside. Chevy had a 5 year 50K warranty on this car, the reason I bought it and the Gas prices were high in 76. They were about .85 cents per Gallon then I believe Funny stuff with $4.00 per gallon now. But in 76 if you made $10K per year that was good $$$$$.

I don't know for sure about weather they made one called a Nomad Wagon I have seen some pictures of one like that and the pillar had a curve on it behind the front door. Could have looked like this one. it even has Crager SS wheels on it. Great guess

Yeah, I didn't look close enough at the pillar, but with all of the unique and unusual cars in the thread my head went straight to the Nomad I was also off a year. The Nomad came out in '76.

Here's a little background on the Nomad I found:

1976 saw the cancellation of the Cosworth Vega, and the introduction of the limited-edition Nomad Wagon (note the restyled rear quarter window treatment).

A timeline of the Vega can be found here:
