Default My License Plate Collection

A few days ago I posted pictures from a local car show and swap meet and a few license plates I picked up while there. Lou (lougreen03) mentioned that I should post some pictures of my collection sometime so I figured I'd take some pictures and share. Currently, I have 115 license plates, 4 Michigan metal renewal tabs (1960-61, 1963-64), and 22 Michigan key chain tags (1951-1973). My earliest plates are all Michigan plates (1936, 41, 44, 47, 51, 52, 53, 56). I have at least one Michigan plate from every year between 1956-current and quite a few multiples of years within that period. All the plates in my collection bear their original paint and/or finish and condition. I do not have any restored plates (yet). What is shown here is by no means even close to my entire collection. Thanks for looking!

I'll start off with some of the Michigan plates. The 1969 plate here is mint and probably my best condition vehicle plate prior to 1984. I've got a 1970 trailer plate (not shown) that is disgustingly mint; rare because trailers usually got abused. On the earlier Michigan plates prior to 1970, the first two letters designated the county the plate was issued in. Starting in 1970, and run until 1979, the first three letters designated the county code. Currently there is no longer a county code designation in Michigan, just a running sequence issue.

Earlier Michigan plates. These are probably my favorite just because the older plates are harder to come by, especially in this condition. With these early plates, the county code is also the first (or last) single or double letter combination. The 1936 is an Allegan County plate, 1944 is Montcalm County, and the rest are Wayne County plates.

The 'Spectacular Peninsulas' (our current upgrade plate) and 'Great Lakes Splendor' plates, issued in 2007 and 1997 respectively, are favorites of mine.

Pair of 1970 Michigan plates never used still in their original issue envelope.

22 Michigan key chain tags (1951-1973).

Some of my Ohio plates. I come across quite a few Ohio plates up here in Michigan.

Some other states, and a few other Michigan plates.

Thanks Chris! I will gladly take any plates that anybody has or does not want, yes. I'm always looking to add.

Great collection. You must find a lot of them online. How long have you been collecting?

I found a 1928 license plate buried in the crawl space under my house a few years back.
