My letter to GM

My letter to GM
Some of you may remember I sent a letter to GM's official facebook page last week. I wrote a lengthy letter about the Monte Carlo community, and our desire to see a new generation of Monte's. I received a reply this afternoon.
Here's the short and to the point answer from GM. It's pretty much what I expected. But hopefully keeping the Monte name fresh in their minds may help to one day bring back the Monte name.
Just thought you'd like to know they at least replied.

Hi Lou, thanks for your message about the Monto Carlo - we received a very similar note from one of the members of your community. While we are grateful for loyal Monte Carlo fans like yourself, we don't have any plans to bring back the model at this time. I will share your sentiments with our team however. Thanks for stopping by the page.

I email Holden a while back about a 2 dr coupe they prototyped, We had a lengthy thread about it, with photochopping going on.
What I didn't realize until I bought this Chevelle is that Monte Carlos and Chevelles came off the same line, they are both "A" bodies, and many parts off the early M.C.'s and Chevelles interchange. Even the VIN's are basically the same.
But I JUST CAN'T IMAGINE why ANYONE would want a 2 door coupe OR a 2 door hardtop! If it's not an SUV or a crossover, what good is it?
Oh, I forgot about roadsters. We have a GM roadster, also.
(2) GM 2 dr coupes, the '04 Intimidator SS and the '82 Olds Regency
(1) GM 2 dr hardtop, the '72 Chevelle SS 402
(1) GM roadster, the '07 Solstice GXP
Must be we have no sense of what's decent to drive any more!!! PITY!
And our next truck? Maybe a '46 Chevrolet? Who can afford a $40-50K truck anyways? I just bought this Chevelle for 1/3 of what my Intimidator stickered at. Guess what, it's worth DOUBLE what my Intimidator is worth now. SCREW GM! I'll stick with the old iron.
Sorry for the rant.

I would be interested to see GM come to one of our meet and greets..Or even the Monte Nationals!
I doubt that will happen!
Cudos Lou for giving it a go.
I doubt anyone is shocked at GM's Response!

That's great! I really don't see the point in coming out with all these new chevys,(aveo, cruze, spark, sonic, etc) why not just bring back the monte? a classic, make it rear wheel drive and gas friendly kinda like the new camaro or 2014 impalas. They brought back the camaro, I'm positive they'll bring back the monte one day too. Although the 2014 chevy SS is very nice

Good to hear that they responded. It'd be nice to see the Monte Carlo back but I think the demand for larger 2 door coupes is in a fight with what the market demands right now.
GM has brought pace cars to Nationals multiple times in the past and has also shown the Intimidator Concept at at least one of them (1999).
Actually, if I'm correct, this picture is from the 1999 Monte Carlo Nationals; the Intimidator Concept (red) and one of GM's custom 5th Gen's behind (purple).

Subject: Monte carlo
I'm a life-long GM vehicle owner. I've owned mostly Chevy's. But also one
Dodge dart..,
I now have in my garage 4/19/2013
1) 1940 chevy 2dr sedan
2) 1946 chevy 2 dr sedan
3) 1969 Corvette
4) 2005 Impala SS
5) 2005 Monte carlo Supercharged SS
You have a huge following of enthusiasts of many of your GM vehicles.
Notably, the Camaro/Firebird, Corvette, Chevy Trucks. But also the classics.
Like tri-five Chevy's (1955-1957), Pontiac GTO's, and so on. But I think
there's a classic Chevy that needs to be brought back to your line up. The
Monte Carlo.
I'm an active member (and enthusiast) of the Chevy Monte Carlo
community. I'm an Monte Carlo enthusiast on the
website. (montecarloforum.com) But there are a number of international clubs
and Monte Carlo enthusiast forums/websites. As well as regional clubs all over
the U.S. One of the oldest Monte Carlo clubs is the National Monte Carlo Owners
Association (montecarloclub.com). They have been in existence and having annual
meets since the 1980's. And continue to this day. All for owners of the Chevy
Monte Carlo.
The Chevy Monte Carlo is also know for being the most successful
car in Nascar. Driven by greats like Dale Earnhardt, Jimmy Johnson, Jeff
Gordon, Tony Stewart, and Dale Earnhardt Jr. just to name a few.
All of us in
the Monte Carlo community honestly feel it's time to bring the Monte Carlo back
to the GM line up. Not as competition to the Camaro. The Camaro is a pure
muscle car. The Monte Carlo needs to be brought back as it's original
intention. A 2-door Luxury-Sport vehicle. The Monte Carlo has always focused
more on the luxury side. But also had the power and sportiness to grab the
attention and dedication of millions of Monte Carlo owners since 1970.
I currently own a 2005 Monte Carlo Supercharged SS And intend on
keeping it for the long term. Like many other Monte Carlo enthusiasts, I'm
looking forward to the hopes of a new generation of Monte Carlo. I'm really
hoping I'll be able to drive a brand new, next generation, Monte Carlo home some
day very soon. It's time to return the classic Monte Carlo name to the GM
line-up. I look forward to hearing from you ,Thank's Jerry Zielinski Jr.
