My favorite Monte
AS you all know I do not have a Monte at the moment but I will again someday. This is by far the favorite. It had a 350 bored to a 355 and we painted it black with candy apple red mixed in with the clear and some sparkle. At one point it had the Yellow lettered Goodyears on it, thats when they first came available in other sizes. Was a beautiful car and I regret ever selling it. I have not seen it since. Would be hard to miss it. Been gone now about 10 years.
It was black, then we mixed the first coat of clear with the red and gold micro flake then stratight clear. It basically looked black until the sun hit it and then it was pretty. Looked purple/cinnamon or so. It wasn't overloaded with flake, just enough to see. Can soeone enlarge that pic? I haven't mastered that yet. We drove that to Florida I dont know how many times and never failed us. We were on our way back once ond got off the interstate at our town and went thriugh Wendy's drive up and I heard some noise. Come to find out, flywheel cracked. But wasn't that nice of Black Beauty to get us all the way home first. My wife always says cars have souls.
The former Monte sounds like a cool car.
Did you ever show it at the Monte Nationals?
I've had the good fortune that I was either setting at home or some place very convenient when one of my cars has broken down.
Debbie & I were planning on taking in a movie one night. Went to go to the movies. Got in my '79 Diplomat and heard a BBBBBZZZZTTTT noise. The battery shorted out. So we took one of my '57s instead. At this time, I felt somewhat safe with the '57 setting in the parking lot of a movie house, or shopping center. Not like today.
