I say muscle, but i have odd taste in muscle: it HAS to go like a **** in more than just straight line, so aluminum v8 or a 3.8 that can handle making big power is necessary

Muscle. Anything used in nascar cannot be a tuner lol. Yes we have a v6 but now days the v6 is what the v8 used to be in the 70s. I saw a stock charger with a 383 run a 15.8 sec quarter. thats damn close to what our supercharged montes run. and there are no more big block cars so you can think of anything with a v8 as the new big block. This is all comparing power and speed.

I like anything that someone put in hours and hours building. I can appreciate the hard work they do but I would prefer muscle

I do not have a RWD, V8 car pulling out a lot of horsepower.

I have a smaller engine, FWD, and in order to get the HP I want, I have to go to boost and computer tuning.

My Monte is going to be more on the tuner side than the muscle side.

Web definition;

A tuner car, is an import automobile (i.e. Japanese, Asian or European manufacturers), with performance modifications. Modifications range from visual upgrades such as changing the rims, tinting the windows and installing bodykits, to a variety of performance modifications. ...
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tuner_(car)...

Unless Oshawa, Canada (where late gen Monte's were born) counts as an import, then this does not sound like my car...

Wait a minute, I did tune my PCM, Suspension, tranny and just this morning I tuned in a rock station... Nahhhhhh, it's still not a tuner...
I can't buy that definition of a tuner car. What about all the hot rod Ford Focus, Chevy Cobalt, and Dodge Neons running around. Many of them look like tuners, are fast like tuners, and cost just as much as a Japanese built tuner car. I think tuner has more to do with a look, performance, and mentality, that where the car was built originally. I wonder if the tuner cars will have the staying power of the muscle car. It seems that they are throw away cars. I don't see any being left twenty years from now when these kids get nostalgic for the return to the rides of their youth.

Mod Mike I agree with you to a point that you use the same tuner mods to make power on your Monte but you did not put on the fart can and horrible graffics that many of the true tuners have. Your car doesn't fall into the category of a true tuner but it isn't a muscle car either. This isn't a bad thing and your car has good company. It falls into what would be called a luxury coupe which is what Chevrolet originally called the Monte Carlo back in 1969. It keeps company with cars like the Oldsmobile Toronado that had a 455 under the hood or the Ford Thunderbirds with 428 and 429 big blocks under the hoods. They made lots of power but were never considered muscle cars and certainly are not tuners either.

I guess I would prefer a muscle car but a true muscle car always needs tuning and money spent on it to keep it running right. I don't want a car that needs constant tuning and upkeep but I do like the look. I guess I want a non muscle muscle car. I guess a Dodge Charger with a 318 or Chevelle with a 327 or 350 would work for me.

We have both right now.My monte an her cavi.
I also like sport trucks a lot of people leave these out of the conversation but they can be a great mix of muscle an tuner.
