I think it depends on what State and the area you live in. The average price of a house in Seattle is a shade over $348K but most areas are in the $400K + catagory. Some of the nicer areas surrounding Seattle will set you back almost a million or more.

In a good market our house was worth $375,000 - we bought it for $307,000 and now it's worth almost half that - this economy sucks!
