Never owned a Del Sol, but I can imagine they'd be a lot of fun to drive and get great gas mileage.
Check out a Saab sometime, open the hood. My dad had a 900 turbo convertible. It was front wheel drive, but the engine is not sideways like most front wheel drives. The belts and pulleys are facing the firewall. The transmission on the 900 is under the engine. I never attempted to work on it.

The Del Sol would be my choice. I loved my last one, but totaled it.
Hey Space, I also had a meeting today with one of my old principals when I worked at the grade school. She was checking on when I will be done with school, as it sounds like I may get my job back at the middle school.
Nothing official yet though.
Teacher, I don't know if the newer Saabs are the same way, but judging by Augi's post they probably are. Dad's 900 convertible was that "classic" (or is it ugly?:p) bodystyle that they had in the 70's, 80's and early 90's, I think. They actually looked pretty good as a convertible, though.
lol They are better then a lot of other 80's body styles.
On a side not how hard is it to put in a new clutch? I am working another deal on a 1991 Dodge Stealth. It runs amazing but the only way to get it into gear is to rev it up and power shift it. They are asking 2000 and I offered 800, They are considering the offer.

Good evening all! I finally went shooting with the wife today. She has a Charter Arms "Pink Lady" and I have a Hi-Point "40 S&W". The Hi-Point was $160 and I couldn't believe how accurate it was. We had a blast. This is the first time that we have spent any real time together in more than a year.
Ok My grandfather gave my Oldest sister his red Del Sol wich was in GREAT shape, my grandfather didnt want to do it but she needed a car. That girl trashed that car.
Then my other older sister got a hold of it and trashed it even more.
It was in such bad shape they sold it and they took out a loan for a Toyota Camry.
So i never got to use my Grandfather's pride and joy(Passed away 2 years ago).
It was a fun little car that we had a blast carving corners on the mountains in NC.
