Sorry to hear about that Mel. That is such a Sad situation.
Well... It's cold & rainin' - almost turnin' to Ice here in Kansas!
here we go again!!!
I went to look at '86 MC SS that had no motor/trans - but the guy would throw in a
1969 L48 300hp 350 & turbo 350 Trans, that ran when pulled from '69 Caprice. That
poor MC was pretty ragged for 1800.00 I gave the guy $ 750.00 for the engine & the trans & passed on the MC. It needed floor pans, new qtr panels, etc...etc...

Man, its sad to see a mc go through that kind of abuse.

I just called a trans shop about the 4th gear in my car... he told me he'd rebuild it for 1800 and that he doesn't recommend a hardened output shaft for 4th gear. He told me the clutches on it are typical to break in half and that's what was wrong with mine. He also told me the life expectancy of the 4t65e is 100,000 miles??

Dustin, unless you really trust this guy I would shop around and make sure you get a written warranty for any work done. I had to have a rebuilt tranny rebuilt 6 months later and they fought me hard to do it. I had a written warranty so in the end they did, but not after threatening to not let me have my car back unless I paid for a second rebuild.

On a side note the tile for my counter tops is here and I just picked it up.

Kitchen counter is a deep brown with quartz and peach viens. It is marble.

The bathroom is called Amazon and is also marble.

Thanks for the warning todd... I just don't know about spending that much just to regain 4th gear... the car is driving perfectly fine in 3rd, I have gone on road trips and everything. Now if it stops pull altoghether, I might do it. I would like to buy a junkyard trans and rebuild it myself (I take pride in being able to say" I replaced this and built that")

Also, the kitchen tile looks great. I think you'll bevery pleased when you finish it

Very cool Todd! I so wish we could do our counter tops in our kitchen and bathrooms. We want to go with quartz. Too expensive and my fiance doesn't want to throw money into our house cause it's worth nothing right now. As soon as the value of our house goes back up we will be doing something.
