Stick to what you want for your son and talk to the principal about why you feel he needs to be moved. It is possible to move him you just have to be persistent and show a real and valid concern and need. It sounds to me from the little I know that his trouble with the other kid is at the root of the problem, but I would start talking to him about drugs and alcohol now to prevent problems later. I have been starting to talk to my nephew who is in 5th grade about it. Unfortunately I have seen some crazy stuff, with kids selling in 3rd grade. That is a rarity, but it still happens. This is the hardest age for kids as they grow up and it will be a challenge for you as a parent. One of the tools we use and share with parents is Love and Logic.

I get email updates from them with tips. Hope this helps.
