^^ This^^

Anyone with privacy concerns should refrain from using Apple computers & phones. They gather all kinds of info about you and report back to the mother ship. Also don't use Google Chrome web browser. Same song, second verse.

I spend most of my time on MCF. But do spend some time on Facebook also. Especially with non-MCF friends and relatives.

Don't fool yourself. They all do. Even if they claim they don't. Especially the big ones like Microsoft and Apple.

Oh yeah, I understand that information collection is everywhere. It's the type of info and what the companies do with it that needs to be of concern. If info is gathered to target me with certain products (buying habits) that's one thing, but when personal information is gathered (name, age, birth date, who I bank with, names of people in my contact list/phone book, phone calls and gps queries logged, etc) that I think it goes a bit too far. Apple and Google are the biggest offenders when it comes to gathering this type of information. They have been called to the carpet more than once because of gathering personal info without notice. Most companies will inform you if they intend to gather personal info in their EUL but Apple and Google weren't...until they got caught. My best advise is always take the time to read the EUL!

You're right about reading the EUL. But they all make the EUL so freakin long and boring to read. Knowing full well, the longer it is, the less likely people are to even look at it. Most people just say "yeah... whatever" and click the box saying they read it. Then get pi$$ed off later on when they find out that they agreed to let the company do what ever they want with your info.

I know companies have to make EUL's for legal purposes. Protects them from lawsuits and such. But many of them deliberately make their EUL so long and difficult to read. I sometimes wish there was a law that said EUL agreements can't be long and boring. Kinda like some of my posts.

Google especially when you are signed in to read your mail and don't sign out right away.

@Space it does feel very 1984 to me.

Side note to all: myspace is actually kinda cool. it's all about music now.
