Rolling chassis - no engine or tranny. This is a great foundation for an SS-clone conversion! Nice, absolutely rust-free chassis (car was purchased out of San Diego.) Clean AZ title. Odometer shows 02973, but judging by the condition of the motor (since salvaged) when I drove it from SD to Yuma five years ago, there's got to be a 1 or possibly a 2 in front of that number (!) Please be advised that the attached photo conveys a nicer impression than in person: the paint is faded, and the vinyl top has been removed. Ditto the front bumper and fascia, all in preparation for conversion for an SS clone (a project that was begun but never got off the ground, unfortunately.) The car was in some kind of collision probably over 20 years ago, and body work is evident in the right rear quarter area. In my opinion the original repair isn't acceptable, but in the larger context of what I wanted to do with an SS conversion, this was well in-bounds for me.

Those are all the disclaimers. The car comes with many extra parts and upgrades that are probably worth a few extra thousands of dollars aside from the car itself:

1. Baer racing front brakes (SS drag: 12" front rotors, C4 calipers) Only 15k mile use, outstanding braking performance.
2. Complete front fascia and related innards (except for air box) for the '84-'88 SS nose.
3. '87-'88 SS rear spoiler, rear bumper, and bumper inserts.
4. Two extra dashboards in fairly nice condtion. The green one has one crack, the brown one has zero.
5. SS side opera windows and rear glass trunk filler panel.
6. Very nice American Racing rims with caps and locks, 17" x 8". (The original wheels were sold.)
7. Two extra doors.
8. Two extra fenders.
9. Extra floor-shift steering column.
10. Numerous other miscellaneous SS parts.

The chassis will need to be trailered to its final destination, and all the extra parts coming with the car will require some extra trailering capacity beyond the chassis proper.

Again, total value of parts and car is well beyond my asking price and probably in the vicinity of about $5k.

For Sale: 1982 Chevrolet Monte Carlo

Ad #182673328 Posted:04/14/2016 This ad expires in 72 days.
$29,995.00

For sale in our Chicago showroom is a 1982 Chevrolet Monte Carlo SS Clone. The Chevrolet Monte Carlo is a two-door coupé that was produced by Chevrolet through six generations from model year 1970 to model year 2007. It was marketed as a personal-luxury coupe through most of its history. With the introduction of GM's new mid-size platform that saw the introduction of the Buick Century, Chevrolet Celebrity, Oldsmobile Cutlass Ciera and Pontiac 6000, the chassis designations were shuffled up. The new mid-size cars were designated as A-body cars, whereas the cars previously designated as A-bodies were now called G-bodies. This once timid 1982 Monte Carlo 6 cylinder, 2 barrel, automatic, bench seat kitten has turned into a fire breathing 550+ horse power, earth pounding, head turning Super Sport clone with a take no prisoner attitude. Pumping life into this beast is a 454 CID V8, .040 over, steel rods, cast crank, Comp hydraulic cam, roller rocker arms, oval port heads, Victor Jr. intake oval port, Holley 950 double pumper carburetor, MSD distributer, MSD 6AL box and blaster 3 coil, Miloden 7 qt oil pan, ARP bolts(head, rod, main), SFI flex plate, Taylor 10mm spark plug wires, chrome alternator, March Billet pulleys, remote oil filter, forged pistons, and a 3500 stall. Phew!!! What's this all mean? Not only 550+ horsepower, but also 535 lb ft of torque all on 93 octane pump gas. This power is then routed through a Turbo 400 transmission, with TCI aluminum trans pan, braided lines, custom transmission cross member, Hurst quarter stick, Hurst roll control, drive shaft loop, and balanced drive shaft. Putting this power to the pavement is a rear end built and assembled by Curry Enterprise, a 9 inch Ford rear end narrowed 2 inches on each side, with Curry 31 spline axles, Detroit locker with 3.70 gear. The rear frame rails have been moved in 3 inches and it's been mini-tubbed. Stopping this Chevy isn't a problem with the Wilwood 4 piston calipers in the front and dual piston calipers in the rear. Wilwood vented rotors are in the front and rear as well. While looking underneath, also note the gas shocks all around, Hotchkis upper and lower control arms with tubular lateral links in the rear, and Hotchkis upper A-arms in the front. In the front is also F-body spindles, rebuilt lower A-arms and steering, and all new: tie rod ends, adjustment sleeves, center link, idler arm, hangers, bushings, sway bar bushings, end link, brake lines and fittings. Temperature is not a problem, the engine is kept cool by a Griffin aluminum radiator, closed radiator panel and there's a TCI 15-1/2 x 10 inch transmission cooler. The exhaust gives this animal the roar it deserves. It all starts with the 2 inch Hooker Super Competition headers and followed up with 3 inch Torque Tech exhaust and 3 inch 2 chamber Flowmaster mufflers. All of this is welded and band clamped, and there's even stainless steel header bolts. If that wasn't enough, all of the exhaust is also powder coated. But that's not all, the undercarriage is a satin black, gloss gray and gloss purple. If you can tear yourself away from looking underneath this Monte, then take a step back and look at the exterior. The body is draped with Toyota Super White paint #040. The engine compartment is even painted with a high gloss black. The custom Burgundy interior has an embroidered head rest and dash. Autometer gauges encompass this interior. The trunk also is custom with a custom fuel cell cover. Under the custom cover is a RCI 16 gallon fuel cell. The fuel is fed by a Holley blue pump with fuel filter. The Weld Prostar aluminum polished wheels are all wrapped with BF Goodrich Radial T/A rubber. Options include: brand new seals and wheel bearings, 5/8 inch studs for rear wheels, braided lines throughout, Optima battery, AM/FM radio with CD player, power brakes, power steering, power door locks, power windows, tilt steering wheel, seat belts, cloth interior, raised white letter radial tires, and aluminum alloy racing wheels. For the last 15 years the car has not been driven in snow or rain. When not on the road, at shows or cruise nights, the car has been covered in a climate controlled garage. The car has been professionally maintained. The frame, suspension and restoration work was completed by Rickâ??s Racecraft in Yorkville, IL. Rick was known for building drag cars and frames. If you like attention this finely detailed Monte Carlo is for you, it can be yours with one phone call!!! Located in our Chicago showroom, this 1982 Chevrolet Monte Carlo SS Clone can be seen including an HD video and pictures at Gateway Classic Cars.
