Has anyone had or heard of any trouble with scammers on autotrader.com? I just got an email from the guy that owns the Firebird and he said he would sell it for 4500.00. Said he was leaving for Afghanistan in 3 weeks and was going to be gone for a long time and that was why he is selling it. I emailed him back and I am hoping to get the vin so I can check the history on it. He did not offer to ship it like the scammers do on craigslist. The car books out at 10,000 not 4500.00. I learned a long time ago if it sounds to good to be true it is. What does everyone think?

Thanks guys... I am 100% responsible and at fault for how I behaved in my car. One of my friends brought in a 2011 Mustang GT and was bragging about how fast it is. After 3 days of hearing about how fast his new toy was, I took him for a ride. I knew that it was the wrong thing to do and I made the conscious decision to do it. The real punishment will likely come tomorrow. My wife seems to be a lot more angry than my platoon sergeant. The speed limit on post is 40 MPH in the section that I was seen in. I am accused of doing 3 times that... The only thing that I am certain of is that it will NEVER happen again (track excluded). It is looking like it's going to be a long day for me tomorrow, so I'm getting off. Have a good night all!

Did the guy use his military e-mail? Service members will often (ALL THE TIME) sell their vehicles for next to nothing prior to deployment. I have a friend who bought a 2005 Ford Focus 2 years ago for $1000. He needed to get rid of it quick. It happens... If you PM me the guy's information I will look him up on my Global account to verify his status if you want.

Good luck tomorrow miller, I hope the best for you bud... also, keep us updated on what happens.
I know how it feels to be tired of hearing someone boast all the time knowing yours is better... you just want to shut them up. I actually believe all of us have done just that.
Space, can you come play? No? You're at work? Awe.
Todd... I agree with miller monte. Usually you will find a car for really cheap if a troop is deploying. My brother got that ws6 with the z06 top end for $3000. From a troop going overseas. Just don't ever send the money... look at the car and hand the money to hime when you receive the title.

For sure on not sending money. He never said he was military just implied through first email. His email came from a hotmail account. I will try and call tomorrow and see what I can find out.
All I have is a first and last name and hotmail address. Checked Facebook and myspace and none exits under that name. Also looked at the local craigslist and the car is not listed there. Should get more info tomorrow.
Greg thanks for the offer. Will first and last name help at all in seeing if this is a legit person in the military?
