Hey all. I got the Monte washed today and after I got home I pulled it in the garage and detailed the inside a little. 2 days in a row for the sun to make an appearance, I think that's a record.

Hey everyone!

Jose, glad you got those off finally. I know you've been wanting to take them off for a while. How's the paint behind it? After you get the goo off, does it look like you'll be able to tell that there was something there? (paint faded? etc...)

Justin, nice pic man!

Ryan, you're just teasing all of us 3rd and 4th gen fans aren't ya? lol.

all i can say is its a good thing i carry my camra everywhere. it was in very nice shape too, a few typical issues, the drivers front fender was dented at bottem in the front, the headliner was falling down, ect. but very clean, no rust i could see, above avarage for the interior too ( dark red bench seat, btw ). the trunklid said its a 4.3 V6 car, but i spied dual exaust so who knows, ether someone put an exaust on it or someone swapped in a v8.... my money's on option 2

Evening all. WHAT A DAY!!! It started out I was headed off to work this morning in the Rock'n Intimidator SS, and about 2 miles out of town I caught some fog and had to dim the brights. NO HEADLIGHTS!!! WTF! My dimmer switch finally totally gave up the ghost n died on me. No dim lights, only brights. So I went back home and got the truck instead, and off to work. I punched out early and started calling around. Nothing. Chevy dealer wanted $552 for the switch, and $130 to install it. Everyone else was $260 - $400, and Tues or Wed' at the earliest. Looked on ebay and found 2 aftermarket switches and 2 AC Delcos with no return policy. So I looked for an Impala switch and found 1 north of Detroit, the auction about to end, and no bidders. $150 NIB. I e-mailed the guy and offered him the $150 and asked If I could come and pick it up today. He called me about an hour later, and I left to get it. 6 1/2 hours, 390 miles, and $70 later I'm home with the switch, and I'll put it in tomorrow.
If this deal didn't happen, I'd have had to taken the Olds out of storage, putting insurance on it for at least a month ($50), to have an extra vehicle, plus license tags, plus extra $$$. BTW, Rock Auto had the best price on the AC Delco switch @ $270 + $11 shipping.
I'm hoping to take a few pics of the install and make a sticky of it. We'll see.
Sorry for the rant. It's good to be home and relaxing.
Glad to hear everyone is having a good weekend.
Happy Valentines day everyone.
Happy Daytona 500 Race Day 2010 also.

Crazy??? That's a given! Yes, I drove too much, but I saved a bunch doing it. I REALLY want to get this done tomorrow so I didn't have to take the Olds out of storage. If I can get this to work tomorrow, I've saved between $100-$250, or way more from what a dealer wanted to fix it.

kinda funny here tonight, I live on a state maintained road and the borough that I live in is clearing it off right now, hmm, how does that work? although they are only removing the snow from the sides of the road, the borough has detours going on using side streets maintained by the borough! I wonder how that is gonna work with who pays for the hours paid for the work???

Wayne, I agree that you did the right thing, I think you'll be happier to keep your Monte out and this way you save the money and hassle of taking the Olds out of storage. Good luck installing and with the right up!
