that was a good try for the raise, justin. lol.
sounds like 85 aint runnin so good, maby its time to do a salvage yard hunt for a 350! you would be surprised how many vehicles had them, and how cheep ( or free ) that a rebuilt one can be if you really look... case in point: my dads co-worker needed to junk an old stepvan, but he felt bad sending it to the crusher with that rebuilt 350.... so he asked my dad if he wanted it. SURE!!! we helped him remove the van from his property, and got the 350 running while it was still in the van. now its on a stand in my gradge, next to 3 or 4 others that we got for a similar price....

i hope everyone gets their coffee, im still waitin on mine....
have a good day, everyone!!!

Question "Ignorance is Bliss" ? ? ?

"Ignorance is Bliss ?
Every action taken by man depends on knowledge (identifying the facts of reality correctly) and knowledge can only be obtained by a process of reasoning, which means integrating data provided by the senses (facts) into abstractions. The idea that ignorance is bliss depends on and embraces the primacy of consciousness principle. So let us ask, how is not knowing, bliss? Suppose you are faced with a problem. Identifying that you have a problem is knowledge, so is it bliss to not be able to identify the problem? If you cannot identify a problem, by what means can you solve it? Consciousness is a process of identification, all identification is knowledge, so surely identification is not a vice.

In my view, the idea that ignorance is bliss means that a person only wants to consume, only wants to feel good, only wants to be happy, only wants emotions to be causeless and disconnected from reality, only wants reality to conform to wishes, fears hopes and demands. Such a person wants to believe that if they do not know, then it does not exist. The concept that ignorance is bliss is a self-contradiction. If ignorance is truly bliss, ask yourself what it would mean to wipe out all abstractions. Would you not have to wipe out the abstraction that ignorance is bliss? Obviously this is not what people mean by ignorance is bliss, they do not mean it would be better to live as a plant or as any other unconscious life-form. This chain of reasoning would be considered extreme. So instead, one might say "some things I want to know, they make me happy and some things I don't want to know they make me unhappy or fearful or cause anxiety."

Ask yourself, why do we feel anxiety, why do we feel fear, what causes such emotions? When you identify that something is a threat to your life (knowledge), to your values (more knowledge), you feel the appropriate emotions and such emotions should be proportional to your value judgments. Emotions, even negative emotions serve a purpose because they act as instant motivators.

Evasion is not a virtue, it is the blanking out of facts, of knowledge and reality. Now one might ask, wouldn't it be wonderful to be a child again, ignorant, innocent and protected from reality? Even a child cannot live without some knowledge, or some abstractions, some understanding of cause and effect. I would also like to point out that it seems people have a rather compartmentalized memory of what it means to be a child. As a child, you may scream and cry in hope that someone, somehow will provide you with some new toy, who will provide it? What if your parents cannot afford such a toy? How about going to school, homework, dependence, and the inability to make judgements, to pursue your values. Was everyday as a child filled with bliss? Look back on your life and think about all the mistakes you have made, were those mistakes the result of knowledge or a lack of knowledge? Ignorance is not bliss, wisdom is bliss. Never substitute ignorance for wisdom, never assume that ignorance will bring happiness. Food 4 thought ? Maybe, or maybe
`not for some.
I think I need a `break, or do I ?

"I `be, therefore.., I `am"
or `am I ?

Hi everyone. I hope your day is going well for you.

This past weekend was columbus Goodguys. So guess where I was?
(No. Not in jail) lol

Friday we got the fairgrounds early so we walked for a few hours. A nice day all in all. Left around 4:00pm or so to go have supper. Mexican as we usually do. Stopped over at the host hotel and hung out with a friend and his wife till about 8:30 or 9:00pm. There was a nice band playing and lots of nice cars to look over.

Saturday we got back to the fairgrounds about 9:30am. We walked for maybe an hour or so and is POURED down rain. That lasted for maybe 3 - 4 hours. So by then there wasn't much to look at. Most had left by this point. So saturday was kind of a wash out. (no pun intended)

After we ate supper saturday Debbie wanted to lay down so I went out in the hotel parking lot and looked at cars. Met a couple guys from W. Virginia with a '56 Chevy .wE walked for maybe 1/2 or so. Then I was walking around the parking lot next door and met some guys from up around Cleveland. They were bored so one, a guy with a '56 Chevy got his car out and started doing burn outs. that livened things up a bit. He even took his extended cab truck out and tried doing burn outs with it. Another guy's son took his T-bucket out and did a cool burn out with it. Then someone from the hotel I was staying at came out to put a stop to the fun.

Sunday was a beautiful day and thankfully a lot of attendees who didn't get much of a show on saturday came back on sunday. We got to the fairgrounds about 10am. We walked till 3pm when we decided to head for home.

I think between us we took close to 400 photos?

I got several "RJ, What car did you drive?" from people who know me over the weekend. I made Debbie my scape goat by telling them she wouldn't ride in an old car. So we drove a 2003 Monte Carlo Pace car to the event. Which means we parking 1.5 miles from the fairgrounds and walked in. She promised them next year we'd bring a '57 Chevy to the event. (we'll see about this one?)

So whats up with the pics Rj? Sounds like you all had a blast with the burnouts. LOL

Ryan is right. 350s are a dime a dozen. Look around. You might find one that from a donor vehicle.
