Morning all,
Install of my new ZZP downpipe did NOT go according to plan yesterday. I couldn't get the two upper nuts loose. The combination of being difficult to reach and rusted left me stymied. Is there a trick I'm just not aware of? Or did I just not expend enough grunts, groans, gnashing of teeth, and foul language? Any thoughts are appreciated.

Hi `Dave, sorry to read that you have encountered a problem on your install

If you have a torch and put some heat to the nut (if there's room) plus some torque it might comes `off.
Also, when I did header work on my Honda I used the below product & it worked great.

I sprayed it on & let it sit overnight, and the next morningthe bolts/nuts where easy to remove.

Above is the link to check it out & read more about the product.* Note: Liquid Wrench did not work 4 me : ( It does on household items, but did not do anything on outdoor or motor parts : (
I hope one of our member's that have installed the downpipe
reads your posts & responds...If not, just make a post about your problem in a new Thread...Good Luck `Dave 4 Sure.

Then, buy a case of beer ( you'll have to be good and buzzed for that part)
If all else fail, try rocking the engine forward, using pb blaster or torch, and a breaker bar.
If that fails, it never loved you in the first place and you should send it to me so I can put it on my car
Going to have a busy day after work, they are talking snow tomarow 5-6 inches, i have to head to my parent's get the monte's frame in the back yard move their pop up trailer back there, then i have to go home and get the plow on the 4wheeler and clean up a few things outside sad thing is i'm ready for it... the sooner it's here the sooner i'll feel like it's over
Thanks, Space. I did use a liberal amount of Liquid Wrench, my usual rusty bolt solvent. No go. No room for a torch either. Those top two bolts are not easy to reach.
Thanks for the advice, Augi. I agree wholeheartedly with the drinks/beer. I certainly couldn't hurt. And I'd feel better if nothing else.
Because our Monte is my wife's daily driver, I don't have much time to solve the problem. I talked this morning to a local muffler shop owner that does lots of custom work. I'll probably bring it to him this afternoon and let him install the downpipe. Sucks since it's such an easy job (in theory). But I also need to talk to him about some custom work on both the Monte and one of my old cars. So it'll be good to meet him and talk about the future work I want done.

Not much going on here today. Waiting for my new gas tank for the Chevelle. I was hopeing to get it done this afternoon. But it's a no show yet. My son & his 3 boys are here for the weekend.
Always a good time. Just took the M/C out for a quick spin. Weather is dry. But cloudy. Might get some rain this weekend. YUK! Other then that. Just waiting for the gas tank and Football on Sun.
