Default Look what I made

Check this out. This is one of my competencies in my metal fabrication/custom paint class at wyotech. This was a flat piece of 20 gauge steel when I started the class. I painted it with a white basecoat then an ice pearl coat. Then I masked off the stripes and painted on the scarlet red with a coat of candy red over top. Then I masked off the flames and sprayed them in lapis blue. I cut out all 50 of the stars and sprayed them in plain white then outlined the flames in a sliver metallic. All followed by 3 coats of clear. I just finished painting it yesterday. Check it out:

Can you spot my other project in the photo?

Thanks space. I take pride in my painting abilities. Ive worked hard for the last few years working on them. Hopefully one day I can just paint for a living.
And yes, that would be a CAI in the background. Im hoping to get it in today sometime. I still need to spray some paint on it tho but its nice outside so I should be able to get it all done.

WOW!............WOW!.....................WOW!
I agree, it wouldn't be at the end of my driveway. It wouldn't last long n it'd be gone.

What did you use for material to fab the intake? Are you putting a heat shield around it also?

That's totally awesome! My fiance bought a flame painted mail box a couple of years ago when he went to Jefferson, WI swap meet for cheap. The unfortunate part about it is when we moved about 2 years ago to the bigger house, the mailbox is inclosed in a brick surround so we can't use it

Thanks again guys. Space, tell your grandfather and his friends that I said thank you. Dont worry guys, this mailbox wont see the outside very often. Only when I want to show off the colors, other than that it will be well protected inside.

For the intake, I used a 12" piece of 3"x.091" DOM tubing. I had my roomate get it in his chassis fab class. Its a little thick for what I need but I may replace it with some aluminum tubing in the future. He cut it down to 9" for me and I used the excess to make a little block off plate for the fender (since it will be a FWI). The excess 3" of tubing runs through the center of a piece of 20 gauge steel I cut to fit the opening in the fender. I brazed them together with a TIG welder and some silicon bronze. I got two rubber 3" couplers to go from the MAF to the tube and from the tube to the piece in the fender. Then the filter goes on the other end of the piece in the fender, actually locating the filter in the fender.
