Leaded race fuel
Got a question for a friend. I have no idea what to tell him about this and Im kinda curious also. But what is wrong with using 110 octane leaded race fuel?? Hes saying its okay to put it in cause its just could mess up the cat which he has a straight pipe from the manifold back so it wouldnt matter anyway. IDK, if you could fill us in on this that would be great.
Thanks all
EDIT: BTW, hes got the 3100 and the 3800 in his montes

The lead was there to remove the knock from the engine. When engine qualities improved over the years, they reached a point in the 1960's and 70's where it was no longer necessary. I believe they just set the timing up a few degrees and did some carbureator tuning to get the engine running good on unleaded fuel without knock.
There were two things taht could remove the knock from the engine. Those two things were alcohol and lead. Well the alcohol cost too much, so lead was used. Atleast, this is the story I have read and have been told.

So being he has a strait pipe from the manifold back, will it cause any damage to the upstream o2? or is both that it will damage?? Id also like to know and maybe give it a try cause I have some KR problems that I just cant figure out. Or is there some addative I can use that ACTUALLY works?? Id still like to know the first question for him though if possible... Thanks

Using leaded gas will lower the life of your O2 sensor.
Have you scanned for KR or are you just assuming you have it?
The only way to lower KR without doing any modifications/tuning, is higher octane fuel.

Assuming. I already run 93 all the time. Its just Im having the signs of KR. And, If I floor it from a stop>BAM right there, loose all my power, this is what make me think so. You have any other idea what it could be causing me to loose power unpredictably?

IDK, its just somthing hes wanting to do?? To each his own.

Scan the car if you think you have poor KR
