The Last Truck
Afternoon everyone,
Had some time off between classes at school and did some video hopping on YouTube like always. Checking out some vintage sales footage of GMC Cyclones and Typhoons and the page had a link to a HBO showcase I had never seen before.
Granted, I can see arguments arising about unions, politics, etc. but I'm not trying to start them. This video just really caught my attention.
The showcase is entitled The Last Truck and it covers the last weeks of GM's Moraine Assembly in action. Even if you know nothing about the people, the place, or the trucks, I think it's a decent inside look into the operation and what it means to many people. It is on the sad side since it's concerning people losing their beloved careers, but it's also a good tribute to their work.
I live just ten minutes from the entrance of the plant. I pass it in the Monte everytime I go to work AND school. I had family and my family had friends that worked inside or at the DELPHI building just north of the assembly. I was barely a teenager when it closed. Moraine, OH is still living with the shadow of the plant over it. It affect more people than I can imagine.
If anyone who was employed there sees this, I thank you for being part of something my/our community could take pride in for 23 years. I can't begin to imagine your feelings on it, but I bet everyone has a great story to tell with memories of good times associated with the Moraine Assembly.
Have a good Tuesday everyone! Granted, I can see arguments arising about unions, politics, etc. but I'm not trying to start them. This video just really caught my attention.
